The "AvB" application is a web application designed to make it easy to find and watch video recordings of touches exchanged during Presidio Fencings' Sparring Sessions. AvB is fully hosted on Google Sites and runs within common web browsers running on both laptops and mobile phones. No software installation is required as the app runs within your devices' browser.
While the goal is to make it possible to run AvB on all devices supporting standard web browsers, there are practical limitations (screen size, lack of mouse, etc.), that make some operations, such as composing playlists, harder when running on mobile devices. However, the goal is to make the creation, sharing, and viewing of personal playlists of high quality videos of fencing touches easy and fast.
This section illustrates how to retrieve tables of all touches between specific fencers.
To get a table of all recorded touches between the two fencers, say Arthur and Betty, use the "Fencer A" and "Fencer B" selection controls. These controls allow you to select the fencers by their name or selecting "All Fencers" for one of the names .
Selecting "All Fencers" for one of the fencers will generate a table of all touches ever recorded by the other selected fencer.
After selecting a pair of fencers, the "Fetch Touches" button is enabled. Clicking this button will retrieve a list of all touches between the selected pair from "Presidio Videos" and display two tables: first is a table of all touches scored by fencer A and the second is a table of all touches received by fencer A from fencer B. The total number of of entries in these tables is also displayed.
Since it's not uncommon for there to be hundreds of touches exchanges between selected fencers, it can be difficult to find the especially interesting exchanges; e.g., second-intention-attacks, touches tagged as highlights, etc.
To assist in the search of touches of interest, the "AvB Touches" section has a set of controls that allow you to sort any column in tables generated by a fetch. It also has a controls that lets you show only those touches that have a specified string in one or more specified columns.
Each pair of fencers used to fetch touches is saved in a "most recently used" (MRU) list control. This makes it easy to track the most current list of all recorded touches between the selected pair of fencers. This MRU list is saved on your local device, making it possible refetch touches even after closing AvB or even rebooting your device.
