My name is Ashley Chapman!! I am a senior secondary English education BAT candidate at the University of Arkansas. Alongside learning and practicing in English Ed, I minor in history! I thoroughly enjoy learning about different parts of the world and how they can be connected to the development of where we are today as a society, and even as individuals! I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, namely in Lake Highlands! I was involved with my community through multiple means, including Girl's Service League, YoungLife, and more! In college, I have been a part of Alpha Phi Omega (which I have served as president the past 4 semesters), a co-ed service fraternity, and Headliners Concert Committee, the group on campus that brings in musical artists! I love night drives with my friends while listening to music with the windows down and also curling up to read a good book. On a nice weekend, I enjoy spending time outside soaking in the sun and doing fun games and sports such as cornhole and volleyball! I like to think of myself as well-versed when it comes to planning trips and other travels! Every school year I usually try to plan at least 2 trips in order to immerse myself in different types of lives. Even in all my travel adventures, I have not been out of the country yet! My favorite place I have visited is most definitely Chicago because it provides a true balance of busy city life and slowed-down suburban areas. I am oh so delighted to be a part of this book drive with some of my best friends, and I cannot wait to energize and support our colleagues! Thanks for being a part of this with us, we genuinely could not do it without YOU!!!
My name is Claire Lindley! I am a senior at the University of Arkansas majoring in English Education with minors in Rhetoric / Writing and English. I was born in West Texas, where I spent the first 13 years of my life. My family and I then moved to Norman, Oklahoma, which has been home ever since! I have a younger brother (Jack), a younger sister (Caroline), and a miniature goldendoodle (Gibson)! I have always had a passion for literature, and I am currently a writing tutor at the UARK Writing Studio! This is my second year to work as a writing tutor, and I LOVE being able to help other students at the University of Arkansas develop effective writing skills. Throughout college I have been a member of Kappa Delta sorority, for which in 2023, I served as the Director of Philanthropy. I was able to work closely with both the Girl Scouts of Northwest Arkansas and the Child Safety Center of Washington County in order to promote confidence in children. I love playing the piano and curling up with a good book, as well as hanging out with friends! Summer is my absolute favorite season; I was a lifeguard for four years and they were the most amazing summers! I also love country music, Chick-fil-A, and 7Brew! I'm so excited to be a part of this book drive, and I cannot wait to see what all we can accomplish!
My name is Katie Jo Wright, and I'm currently a senior at the University of Arkansas, majoring in English Education. I come from the small town of Quitman, AR, located in the heart of Central Arkansas. My dog Myrtle, a standard poodle, is all about bones and squeaky balls. Growing up, I have always had a passion for learning and sharing knowledge with others. Currently, I'm working as a campus tutor, allowing me to further cultivate my love for teaching. The inspiration for my journey into education traces back to a 5th-grade teacher whose impact on my life ignited a desire to make a difference in someone else's life. It's the reason why I chose the path of teaching. Literature has been a constant companion, leading me to pursue English Education. When I'm not in the world of books, you'll find me enjoying movies, spending quality time with friends, and indulging in a bit of retail therapy – shopping is my go-to activity. Summer holds a special place in my heart, filled with babysitting adventures with the same group of kids. I'm a country music fan, and you can catch me enjoying Oreos and a refreshing Sprite. While my musical tastes vary, country tunes always satisfy me. I'm thrilled to be a part of this experience and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to make a significant impact on someone's life. Let the journey begin!
Hey!! My name is Erin Murabito and I am a senior secondary English Education B.A.T candidate at the University of Arkansas. I have been in this major since the fall of my sophomore year and it has been a long journey to get to this point since then! One of my favorite things to learn about is different cultures and their educational practices. I have visited schools in Costa Rica and hope to go to Europe soon to learn more about their customs and practices. I have lived in eight different states, including Georgia, Virginia, South Carolina, Missouri, Mississippi, Connecticut, Tennessee, and now Arkansas! When I was in high school, I ended up transferring during my junior year from Mississippi to Connecticut, so it was a HUGE culture shock to go from a small private school in the south to a huge public school in New England. From that, I have had SO many different schooling experiences and opportunities, and for that I will forever be grateful (though I wasn’t at the time of me moving). Throughout college, I have been involved in Educators Rising, but spent most of my free time working as a server at a local restaurant. During my summers, I am a camp counselor at a summer camp up in Columbia, Missouri, and some of most precious memories were made as both a camper and a counselor there. Some of my favorite things to do in my free time are to hang out with my boyfriend, Zach, and our rescue puppy, Lou. I also enjoy spending quality time with my family and going on evening walks or early morning hikes. I also love to bake, cook, and travel. Some of my favorite places I have traveled have been Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR. I LOVE the pacific northwest and the ambience that comes with going there. I am so, SO excited to be apart of this program and can’t wait to see what we will be able to do for our pre-service teachers!
