-Driving may save some money, but a 15-20 hour trip can take a lot out of the team.
- If taking your robot as a check-in bag on the plane, TSA most likely will inspect the case's content.
-Many airlines have a 20"x20"x20" outside dimensions and 50 lbs as a maximum before over-size charges are applied, check ahead.
-Toolboxes can be checked like luggage.
-It is a REAL advantage to have a hotel on the Shuttle route.
- Be sure to check the location of your hotel relative to the Event center.
-Sign up for the cell phone queuing – VEX TEXT at registration. Have cell numbers ready.
-Install the VEX VIA app on your smart phone for matches, results, rankings, etc. Apple App, Android App.
-Be prepared for long lines at registration and practice/skills fields.
-There are many food vendors at the competition, but expect event-type pricing.
-There are a few outside picnic tables.
- Pre-ordered lunches are available, Make sure to order before the pre-order period closes on April 3.

- The division you will be competing in is usually posted 1 week ahead, watch for team email blast.
-Make a checklist of what to bring to the matches, it can be a REALLY long way back to the pits.
- Run driver skills and programming skills as early as possible.
- Either order your VWC shirt online or get there early - the lines can be huge World Championship Apparel.
- Be sure to ask teams about neat things you see, almost everyone helps.
- Be sure to bring your VEX/RECF Consent & Waiver Forms or submit electronically.
-Check all the VWC email blasts before you leave.
-Shipping crates that have wheels on them can double as robot carts.
- While the sportsmanship is phenomenal, never leave your robot unattended.
- The walls of the pits are drapes, bring pins if you want to hang things.
-Many teams bring gifts to give out in the pits, pins, pencils, candy, etc.
- It can be a large distance to find alliance partners, start early.
- Even if your robot is not running , DO NOT miss a match.
- Some practice fields are less busy than others.
-There is a VEX store on site that sells most parts.
-Be sure to fill in additional team info on RobotEvents site, Team info page.
- You will need to turn off any electronic device's wireless feature at the event.
-Bring all the parts you think you may need and bring some that you don't think you will need.
-You can never have enough extra motors.
-Bring a surplus of Hex/Star keys.
-Put your code on multiple flash drives and email/cloud storage it to yourself and you teammates.
-Make scouting sheets ahead of time.

-Wear comfortable shoes.
-ALWAYS stand up, put cell phones away, and make eye contact when you are with the judges!
