Frequently Asked Questions

When will I get my timetable?

If you've met all the requirements for your offer, you should be able to enrol from early September. Once you've enrolled you'll have access to your individual timetable. In the meantime you can find more information here: https://www.newman.ac.uk/welcome/welcome-to-newman/programme-foundation-year-studies/ and a timetable explainer on this page.

When does my course begin?

The first day of the teaching semester is Monday 25 September. You may or may not have sessions on that day (the Monday) but you'll definitely have sessions during that week. Your timetable will let you know which days of the week you have sessions.

Please note, there will be an induction session on campus with your foundation lecturer on Tuesday 19 September, 11am-1pm, which we strongly recommend you attend.

Who will my personal tutor be?

Your personal tutor will be in touch by email and phone in mid-September. They'll let you know what to expect from the first couple of weeks at university, and you'll meet them in person at your campus induction on Tuesday 19 September.

I think I may have dyslexia or ADHD. What do I do?

If you suspect you have dyslexia, ADHD or another learning difficulty, then get in touch with our dyslexia co-ordinator. She'll help arrange an assessment and can tell you more about the support available. You can find more about dyslexia and getting support here.

I have a learning difficulty, health problem or disability. Where do I get support?

Our inclusion co-ordinator will be able to help you with Disability Support Allowance. Go here for more information on what to do and who to contact.

I have a problem with finance / my student loan or maintenance. What do I do?

Come along to our online induction sessions. Our welfare adviser will be there to offer advice and support. If it is urgent, email studentsupport@newman.ac.uk.

Can I get help with transport?

National Express West Midlands contains information for all travel by bus and coach in the West Midlands, including bus pass information such as the Student Travel card.

If you plan to travel on the train frequently and you are eligible, you may want to invest in a young person’s railcard, which gives you 1/3 off your fares, see details here.
