Speaker: Aditya Gopalan

Aditya Gopalan was born in Mumbai, India, and received the B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 2006. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin in 2011. He was awarded the 2012 Andrew and Erna Viterbi Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Israel, and the INSPIRE Faculty Award by the Dept. of Science and Technology, Government of India, in 2014. His research interests include communication networks, learning and control, and performance analysis.

Speaker: Aadirupa Saha 

(Apple)

Aadirupa is currently a research scientist at Apple ML research, broadly working in the area of Machine Learning theory. She did a short-term research visit at Toyota Technological Institute, Chicago (TTIC), after finishing her postdoc at Microsoft Research New York City. Aadirupa obtained her Ph.D. from IISc Bangalore under Aditya Gopalan and Chiranjib Bhattacharyya.

Her research primarily focuses on designing Efficient Human Aligned Prediction Models: Few specific research areas include Online learning theory, Bandits & RL, Federated Optimization, and Differential Privacy. Of late, she has also been working on some problems at the intersection of Mechanism Design, Game Theory and Algorithmic Fairness. Aadirupa has organized several workshops and tutorials in the recent years, including a UAI-23 tutorial, two ICML workshops [2023], [2022] and two TTIC workshops [2023], [2022], and also served for different panel discussions. 

She is super excited about this upcoming tutorial at NeurIPS-23!
