Ice Age collision Course was a pointless movie that I didn't asked for like I'm okay with the fourth-teen one , I mean that was a conclusion and Blue Sky screwed it up by making another one and like "OH YEAH THIS IS OUR LAST ICE AGE MOVIE"! Ice Age has one of the most movies sequels of their saga which revival Toy Story with 5 (Including the spin off Lightyear) and may I add 6 since we are getting a Toy Story 5, Shrek with 6 ( Including the 2 Puss in Boots spin offs) and Despicable Me with 5 or 6 since we are getting a fourth-teen instalment (also including the 2 minions spin offs). I f I had to be honest this movie, this VERY movie influence people hating Ice Age, it's not the others it's this movie what make people hate this franchise because this movie made 400 million at the box office which is lacking because the other Ice Age movies (except the first one) made twice then this and it was critically dislike by critics and audiences. I actually remembered going to see that movie in the Omniplex theatres when it came out as kid, I just kind of forgot about it, over time it gets worse and worse and the point where I re-watched it and it was not good. So without a further-a-do let's get into it!
The casting is getting absurd now: I'm really baffled the movies celebreality casting choice like in the fourth-teen movie sure there are way too many celebrity voice cast but at least most of them has acting on their resume. Here we've got Jessie J, Neil deGrasse? Who plays as him self because why wouldn't they. Wanda Skyles? Michael Strahan who is an American football player? A YouTuber?! WHAT KIND OF MOVIE IS THIS?!

The comedy is mostly pretty lame: Okay I'll give this movie this, the Scrat parts are the best of the movie and I did got some chuckles out of it but the rest of it is not good. This is the least funny of all of the Ice Age movies because some of the comedy can work on paper but in execution the movie lacks the comedic timing and energy , so it just doesn't work. I know comedy is a subjective opinion and some people might find this funny but not to me. This movie also has pop culture and social media jokes which aren't funny at all, I mean at least Ice Age: The Meltdown shoved the jokes away and not spew out completely. It has a doo joke because it shows how unfunny this movie is. Ice Age the fourth-teen at least has some funny humour and has the most iconic line in history " NOT THE SPOON FLINT!", You know what, this is my "iconic" catchphrase for now on "NoT ThE SPOon FlINt!" Okay moving on.
So Scrat causes the asteroid to head to Earths hints the name Collision Course. So we get to see Manny and Peaches playing hockey together until we meet our new character Julian... who let that guy I mean (I say I mean too many times now) he didn't appeared in the fourth-teen and he just came out of nowhere. Julian is a meh character to me not to say he is bad or annoying any means he is just writing weak because he is an everyman go-lucky happy character but there are a few moments that is kind of cute with his relation ship with Manny and he isn't a creep or a jerk.
Sid the wut: Yeah this is the point where the writers just given up trying to write characters now and Sid is sadly one of them. There are some points where Sid's voice actor just get tiring now so any way Sid wants a girl which ties up to the first one but failed and the girl said he has a profiled picture.... WHAT?!
Social Media doesn't makes any sense: My other issue big issue with the movie is that they went too far with the social media jokes or our society because like I said earlier it both doesn't work as a joke and a for worldbuilding purposes. like a bar exist , Wedding , a party and even characters say things like fireworks like HOW DO THEY KNOW IT SINCE ITS TAKING PLACE IN THE ICE AGE you know BEFORE WE MADE THEM! It also doesn't fit the aesthetic of this movie at all like this is about pre-historic animals!
Diego, Shira, Ellie, Crash and Eddy and Granny: I put them all together because I got nothing to say about any of them like Diego was handed pretty decent but I wish they explore more on the dynamic of Diego and Shira more. I don't what they are going for with the predators scaring kids like is this Zootopia? (By the way the two movies came out the same year and 2016 is a big year for movies in my opinion) Crash and Eddy don't do anything plot reverent because they do absolutely nothing like ever since the fourth-teen, for Granny I'll give this movie this for making her a funny character like I find Granny's dialogue funny at time. But then if you remove all of this characters with some change elements nothing will change about the plot.
They throw in a pop song in the wedding which so out of place. So the mini asteroids crashed on Earth, now you can argue that the asteroids was a bad thing but nothing actually happens to our main cast if you think about it!
Meanwhile at underground Buck is fighting Dino Birds which try's to steal the mother's egg, but I thought he wants to be with Rudy the entire like that's is his entire motive in the first place why he choose to stay but what ever. He discovered a message from a tomb stone because plot needs to happened but he finds the mammals even though he was underground before the island got destroyed and they move to another island and Buck gets there? I guess the underground was very big. Buck said that the dinosaur died by the asteroid?! So they go underground?! Movie I need answers!
So Buck is back: Before I talk about Buck why do they give him a musical number! Again! This is not a Disney movie for god sake! Out side of the recast he say's this "And this must be... Nectarine" Peaches: "Um Peaches." in Ice Age the third when Ellie is pregnant she says this "Manny! Pineapples!" Buck: "Pineapples?" Manny:" She gets craving." Ellie: "Pomegranates! Grapefruits! Nectarines?!" if that was intentional that was a good call back for people who know too much about this on going franchise. He maybe looks like Buck- wait a minute how on Earth did Peaches grow up but everyone else stays the same though out the entire movie how dose time work?! Any ways his comeback is mostly positive , but I'm baffled how they flanderized in Ice Age the third he has a mettle personality, he is the voice of reasons at times and his dialogue and jokes where played very subtilty ,but here he is basically the crazy guy. So there is the subplot where Buck take care of a pumpkin and Sid asked why do Buck refer the pumpkin as a girl until the twig got snap off. Yeah there is a pen_s joke inserted. He says later that all of the crystals into the volcano which is feels forced in and cause the plot needs to happen.
The dinosaur birds are bad written villains: Their motive makes no sense like they said that they want the egg but now they all for a sudden they want to stop Buck so the astroid can kill Buck. You can argue that "Well thEY Are StuPid" yeah sure, the writers make the villains look like idiots the entire time and its so stupid!
The story is a mess!: I got to stop here for a moment because the storyline is all over the place and that's the biggest problem I had with the movie. Things just happen and there are pointless scenes here and there and there is no point of me detailing every scene since there are filler scenes that didn't add to the plot and the information they feed us is so little and basic.
Manny is at his worst: I didn't mention Manny at this point now in my review because this is the worst part of the movie in my opinion. His character arc is just the same from the fourth-teen one, he learns to accept her daughter for freedom like sure it some what makes sense but still it's so... dare I say lazy.
Animation: Like every movie (most) not everything is bad, I will give this movie this, the animation is the biggest redeemable quality of this movie. The movie has very colourful and vibrate lighting to it. I like the background designs of Geotopia with the colourful crystals. Just because it has good animation doesn't mean this save the movie because it's not that important at all and it just means nothing since it's tied up with a bad story.
This movie ends off with a dance number, I want to bring that up because it's the only Ice Age movie that has a dance number because in Ice Age the third and fourth-teen at least it's in the credits and not in the actual movie since a lot of animated movies mostly have a dance number.
The plot is a mess, the main characters are useless to the plot and the new ones doesn't help at all, the aesthetic is maybe a bit too insane for an Ice Age movie and it's a poor conclusion to the franchise.
It's a skippable movie so don't bother to watch it if I was you. But here is the question you being waiting for, is Ice Age Collision Course the worst Blue Sky movie? Well it's the easily the worst Ice Age movie by a landside but is it the worst? In my humble opinion maybe not because my less favourite Blue Sky movie is Rio 2 and I'll talk about this in another review some day but the reason I hate Rio 2 so much is that it offers nothing and doesn't expand the world well. Ice Age Collision Course dose offer something new sure it maybe too outlandish but it has something to offer and I did chuckle at it a few times. Is it Cinematic Classic Junk: Yes I already covered all the details but it's not as bad as Ralph Breaks the Internet in my opinion but most of us can agree this movie is a total missed.
Conclusion: The one word I describe the entire Ice Age Saga is... Inconsistent. Ice Age is an Inconsistent franchise but none of their movies are lazy. They aren't cynical cash grabs with zero effort. They love letters to pre-historic animals and terrible term of events. The movie has a start, middle and ending but decided to carry on with pointless nonsense. It's inconsistent when it comes to the writing but it shows how different styles each writers are. It's not a bad franchise in my opinion ,I like the first 3 movies, the 4th was okay but the 5th is not good. So there you have it I have analysis all of the Ice Age movies. That's what I love the Ice Age movies it's the history of it. We live in a cure, dangerous, negative, capitalistic world but these light hearted silly movies about pre-historic animals. 152ee80cbc
