In 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer as a Public Relations representative for the Miss Universe Guyana team and help coordinate the MUG Sashing Ceremony. It was such a rewarding experience and I loved meeting the amazing team behind it all and being part of something so special. The energy, the people, the purpose—it all just felt right. I’m truly honored to have been part of it, and I can’t wait for more experiences like this in the future!
Timerhi Film Festival & CARIFESTA XIV
My very first venture into the Animated Film Industry took place when I was just 17 years old. I had the incredible honor of debuting Mikayla’s Adventures 592 at the Timehri Film Festival, an animation directed by myself and animated by Jumal Sam. Watching it on screen was nerve-wracking, especially with international filmmakers in the audience, but the applause afterward made it all worth it. I’m deeply grateful to GAN for their support in bringing this idea to life. To every girl with a dream, this experience is proof that your only limit is yourself.
Apatrida - Video Game
Being part of the ICE Caribbean - Visual Arts Biennial was an unforgettable experience, especially as the only Guyanese member in the accelerator program. I had the chance to demo Apatrida, my very first video game, to a live audience. The game follows Nin, a young girl seeking asylum, as players navigate challenges to help her reach the UN building. Sharing Apatrida felt like a huge step forward in my creative journey, reinforcing the power of storytelling through games. I’m grateful for this opportunity and look forward to creating more meaningful digital experiences.
The creation of my first Intro to 2D Animation course was an exciting challenge that deepened my passion for training young aspiring creatives. In collaboration with GAN Inc., I developed a bite-sized program using Pencil 2D. Seeing students bring their characters to life for the first time was incredibly rewarding. Ever since, I’ve had the privilege of guiding children through their first animation experience, watching their creativity unfold frame by frame. It’s been amazing to share this skill and inspire the next generation of Guyanese storytellers.
