Preacher's Companion ("the app", "we", "us") is a King James Version Bible study app. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. Please read it carefully. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the app.
Your subjects, saved verses, notes, tags, and voice memos are stored only on your device. We do not have accounts, and we do not store this content on our servers.
The app works offline for all Bible reading, subjects, and notes.
The only feature that uses the internet is transcription: when you record a Voice Memo or use the voice-to-text (dictation) button, your audio is sent securely to our server, which forwards it to OpenAI to convert speech to text. The AI tag suggestions and note/reference formatting features send the relevant text the same way. This content is processed to return a result and is not stored on our servers.
Subjects (verse lists), saved verses, and your personal notes.
Voice memos, their transcripts, tags, and any saved audio recordings.
Your in-app preferences (theme, sort order, etc.).
This data stays on your device. We cannot see it. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it. You can also delete any subject, memo, note, or recording from within the app at any time.
When you use Voice Memos, voice-to-text dictation, AI tag suggestions, or AI note/reference formatting, the app sends the following to our server, which forwards it to OpenAI for processing:
The audio recording you made (for transcription), and/or
The text you are formatting or generating tags from.
We use this solely to return the transcription, tags, or formatted text to your device. We do not use it to build a profile, we do not sell it, and we do not retain it on our servers after the request is completed.
We do not require or offer user accounts.
We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, or device identifiers for advertising.
We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs.
We do not use analytics that identify you.
Voice transcription and AI text features are powered by OpenAI. When you use those features, the audio or text you submit is processed by OpenAI in order to generate a result. Your use of these features is therefore also subject to OpenAI's applicable policies. We only send the minimum content needed to produce the result you requested.
Microphone: requested only when you choose to record a Voice Memo or use voice-to-text. It is used solely to capture audio for transcription. You can decline or revoke this permission in your device settings; the rest of the app continues to work without it.
On-device content (subjects, notes, memos, recordings) remains until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app.
Audio and text sent for transcription/AI processing are used only to fulfill that request and are not stored on our servers afterward.
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
