"The art of life is to know how to enjoy a little and to endure very much"
Advanced Concrete Research Laboratory (ACRL) focuses on studying and enhancing the behavior of advanced cementitious composite materials to achieve properties of importance to structural engineering applications. The core research involves material testing, developing of new fibers, improving the manufacturing techniques, as well as tailoring and optimization of cementitious composites to best suit structural engineering applications.Â
ACRL also integrates material nano and microstructure to address contemporary challenges in civil infrastructure. The ACRL fosters the creation of a next generation built environment harmonious with the natural environment via advanced materials technologies. Both graduate and undergraduate students at the ACRL are involved in basic research topics driven by societal needs, and sponsored by a combination of governmental and industrial entities in building and transportation infrastructure sectors.
