Dr.Praveen Kumar Ch

My name is Dr. Praveen Kumar Ch. Currently, I teach Anthropology at University of Hyderabad. I have trained in Anthropology, received my doctorate from Department of Anthropology, University of Hyderabad. Prior to joined University of Hyderabad, I was working as Assistant Professor with Department of Anthropology, Kannur University, Kerala, where I had an opportunity to teach for Masters and Doctorate students during 2019-2022.

My research interests focus on 'changes in agrarian societies', 'Agrarian labor, 'migration and development', Agroecology, sustainable agricultural practices and impact of agrochemicals on environment.

Recent News:

Spring semester(Jan-June )2025: I am teaching the following courses;

1.Theories of Culture(for masters) ,

2.Applications of Biological and Archaeological Anthropology(undergrads), and

3.Foundations of Social Research(undergrads).

Fall Semester(June -Dec) 2024: I taught the following courses;

1.Anthropology of complex societies(for undergrads)

2.Archaeology and Heritage Studies(for undergrads)

June 2024:

I have been teaching a summer course in Anthropology at University of Hyderabad.

May 2024:

I am so excited to teach a new course on Anthropological Theories of Human Society. Currently conducting classes for Integrated master students in Anthropological Theories of Human Society as part of Summer course Program.

Jan 2024: I will be teaching the courses at University of Hyderabad for Integrated Masters and Masters' students in Anthropology.

Dec 2023:

My research article has been published in one of the prestigious journals 'The Eastern Anthropologist' titled" Changing Agrarian Relations in Telangana".

July 2023:

I joined as a guest faculty in the Department of Anthropology, University of Hyderabad,India, Happy to be back in my alma matter!

Nov 2023:

Joined as Assistant Professor in School of Liberal Arts at Mohan Babu University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.

September 2022:

Completed job contract and left Department of Anthropology, Kannur University ,Kerala.

July 2019:

Joined as an Assistant Professor in Department of Anthropology, Kannur University, Palayad Campus,Kannur,Kerala.

Feb 2018:

Joined as Research Associate at National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj(NIRDPR),Hyderabad with Centre for Financial Inclusion and Entrepreneurship(CFIE).I worked on SHG-BLP Programme in India: It is an evaluative study. As part of this study, the services have been evaluated and the data have been collected from SHG women from 3 states in India i.e. Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

Dec 2017:

Awarded Ph.D., in Anthropology, from Department of Anthropology, University of Hyderabad for submitting theses titled" changing Agrarian Relations in Telangana" and guided by Prof. P.Venkata Rao.
