Research Interest

My focal research interest is to understand the role of Th2-type cytokines in particular IL-13 and IL-17 in different pathophysiological conditions, like cancer and autoimmune diseases, and its possible application in translational medicine. In extension, my future endeavor will be to focus its role in a quite unexplored area of Immunology such as the involvement of these cytokines in lineage determination of B and T cells specific to certain immune responses and how it might affect and/or regulate the molecular mechanism of generation of antigen-specific paratope specifically in the case of certain infection and malignancy. At present, my focus is decipher the role of natural products in cancer and rheumatoid arthritis and their implication in translational medicine.

Biographical Sketch

Praveen Deepak is an Assistant Professor in Zoology at Magadh University, Bodhgaya. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur, and thereafter, he joined the Department of Zoology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi as Junior Research Fellow and later, as a Senior Research Fellow where he has worked on the role of interleukin – 13, a Th2 type cytokine, in modulating both innate as well as adaptive or acquired immunity in tumor-bearing host using BALB/c mice as an experimental model. At present, he is primarily focusing on teaching and establishing a niche in his research interest comprising the role of small molecules and natural products in the therapeutic application in cancer and rheumatoid arthritis.
