Welcome to Dr. Praveen Paruchuri's home page. Dr. Paruchuri is currently an Associate Professor at IIIT Hyderabad working with the ML Lab (Overview)

Bio in brief:  Dr. Paruchuri's research interests span AI, Multi-agent Systems, Applied ML, Game Theory and Intelligent Transportation. His Ph.D. thesis is known for initiating the development of ARMOR system* that has been in use at the Los Angeles International airport since 2007 (thanks to many collaborators) and laid foundation for newer game theoretic systems (by other researchers) at locations such as the New York and Boston ports and others. His work has been described in news media such as Newsweek, LA Times, Times of India, Lenta.Ru etc and has 70+ technical publications (including a book) and 3 patents among other contributions. In addition, his papers received best paper award at SASEMAS'05, nominated for best paper in industry track at AAMAS'08, in GDN'21 and VEHITS'24. For the past few years, he was involved with Team VidyutVanika placed second in the PowerTAC 2018 international competition and became the champion agent in the years 2021 and 2022. Applied ideas play an important role and Dr. Paruchuri's lab had the opportunity to work on industrial or applied projects with TCS Research**, CognitiveScale, BEL Ghaziabad***, NIUM Hyderabad, MoE Govt. of India on AI Virtual Labs among others over the years.

*** Developed ML approach built on top of MST system that Air force uses to detect flights pan India.

** Collaborative effort on team VidyutVanika placed second in 2018 and first in 2021 and 2022 in the PowertTAC international competition. TCS recently featured this as part of their TCS 40andForward campaign (which celebrates 40 years of research work at TCS).

* This is considered as the first ever deployed application of computational game theory for operational security i.e., application actually used on ground.  Successful deployment of this application generated huge interest in what came to be called as the topic of Security Games
