Hi,
I am Pratap Pal, working as a postdoctoral research associate with Prof. Chang-Beom Eom at the department of Materials Science & Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. I obtained my Master's and Doctoral degrees at the Physics Department of Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India, under the supervision of Prof. Debraj Choudhury.
During my PhD, I was deeply involved toward better material designing and synthesis to unravel the unconventional coexistence and coupling of room-temperature ferroelectricity and ferromagnetism (multiferroicity) in complex quantum oxide materials.
Now, I am actively synthesizing epitaxial multifunctional oxide/nitride thin-films and trying to understand and manipulate the intricate coupling of strain/symmetry and magnetic properties for better material platform toward magnetoelectric and spintronic applications.
