Presented our industrial research work of BASF SE, Germany, on ‘Design of sustainable organic coatings for metal protection using molecular simulations' at the Research Scholars’ Symposium of IIT Bombay and received the ‘Best Oral Presentation Award’ for the same. The research helps to screen coating materials for metal protection.

Published a co-authored article, 'Probing the Energy Landscapes and Adsorption of Asphaltene Molecules near Silica Surface'  in Fluid Phase Equilibria Journal. In this work, we showed that the common belief that 'all asphaltenes preferentially adsorb over rock surfaces' is not always true. We showed that the adsorption is governed by the contributions from core, chains, and heteroatoms within the asphaltene structure, as well as the competition provided by surrounding oil phase molecules.

More information: The cover art depicts the qualitative free energy landscape of asphaltene molecule adsorption on a mineral surface. It highlights the locations of maxima and minima in the free energy profile, the barriers to adsorption, and the conformational changes in the asphaltene structure during the adsorption process.

This summer, I guided three undergraduate students, Aryan, Vedang, and Arkaja from VNIT Nagpur, in our lab at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. Together, we worked on Enhanced Oil Recovery using Molecular Simulations. Mentoring these bright minds was a wonderful experience, and I learned much from it.

Invited as a guest speaker at Jawaharlal Darda Institute of Engineering and Technology (JDIET) Yawatmal as part of the Faculty Development Program/Short Term Training Program on 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜. I discussed our work at IIT Bombay on 'Enhanced Oil Recovery using Molecular Simulations.' Throughout my presentation, I emphasized the significance of a molecular-level understanding in innovation and how we can address some of the latest pressing problems through molecular simulations.

Published an article 'Investigation of Light Oil - Rock Interaction Using Molecular Dynamics Simulations'  in ACS Energy & Fuels Journal. In this work, we investigated light oil - rock interactions in detail and suggested a few guidelines on the solvent design for crude oil extraction from the reservoirs.
