Role: Collaborator
Project Title: AI-Driven Agronomic Recommendation and Early Detection System for Maize Pest Management Using Hyperspectral lmaging
Year: 2026-2028 (13.02.2026 - 12.02.2028)
Amount: Rs. 25,93,500
Grant No: CMRG251058
Outcome: The proposed project is expected to develop an AI-driven, UAV-based hyperspectral imaging system for early detection and severity assessment of maize pests and diseases, enabling timely agronomic recommendations and precision crop management. The system will integrate advanced deep learning and Explainable AI techniques to improve detection accuracy, reduce pesticide usage, enhance maize productivity, and support sustainable farming. Additionally, the project will generate a field-validated TRL-7 prototype, create valuable hyperspectral datasets, facilitate technology transfer and patent generation, and contribute to food security, environmental sustainability, and improved farmer livelihoods.

Project Title: Strengthening the livelihood of Jenu Kuruba Community in parts of Mysore, Kodagu and Chamarajanagara districts of Karnataka State through sustainable honey harvesting techniques
Year: 2025-2028 (21-Apr-2025 -20-Apr-2028)
Amount: Rs. 1,44,85,176
Grant No: DST/SEED/PVTG/2023/68
Outcome: Build the technical capacity of beneficiaries in scientific and systematic beekeeping. Key competencies were developed in colony management, pest and disease control, hive inspection, seasonal management, and maintenance of colony health. These technical interventions established the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for the effective adoption of advanced beekeeping technologies, including smart hive systems, precision monitoring tools, and honey quality improvement techniques in the subsequent phases of the project.
