BOOSTER DOSE CAMP
The NSS Unit Has Organised Booster Dose Camp in Association with BMC Successfully on 20th July 2022 for Faculty, Administrative Staff, Students, Family Members Of Our Staff and Others. Total Beneficiaries are 458 (423 Covishield + 35 Covaxin)
We are very much Thankful To Our Principal Madam and Vice Principal Sir, Faculty Members and Administrative Staff for their constant support and coordination to make this Camp successful.
STRAY DOG FEEDING ACTIVITY
NSS UNIT of KET's V. G. Vaze College (Autonomous) Organised a Stray Dog Feeding Driveon 26th August 2022 on the occasion of International Dog's Day. Total Beneficiaries were 183. A donation was raised for the purchase of Dog food where many people donated whole heartedly to feed food to stray dogs. This food was distributed to the volunteers were distributed and was fed to dogs in their vicinity. Volunteers took active part in this event and were successful in feeding the stray dogs along with passing their love to them with some petting. Animals have no voice, They can't speak. Humans must be their voice, And always try to help their unheard plea.
The event was a success, all thanks to the active assistance and support of the Program officers, Donators and lastly the dedicated volunteers.
WATER CONSERVATION ACTIVITY
NSS DEGREE UNITof KET's V. G. Vaze College (Autonomous)had organised a session on "Water Conservation "( Rain Water Harvesting) and it's Different Techniques, calculation of availability of rain water, with Practical to the NSS Volunteers. Session is delivered by Civil Engineer Mr. U. Paranjpe.( Trustee - Jalwardhini)
BLOOD DONATION DRIVE
NSS DEGREE UNIT of KET's V. G. Vaze College (Autonomous) had organised a Camp of Blood Donation on 22 nd Sept 2022 in association with the Nair Hospital.
The camp provided every facility to the blood donors including refreshments given after and before donating blood, proper place for the blood donors to rest and pre health check-ups, with practical to the NSS volunteers.
The BLOOD DONATION DRIVE started at sharp 9am. The blood collected from this camp was to be given to Nair Hospital Blood Bank. 110 people registrations were received for donations and total 66 Units of Blood have been collected. Many students and teachers of KET' V.G.VAZE COLLEGE also donated blood. Proper SOPs were followed by the medical and NSS Volunteers during donation. All the NSS Volunteers maintained discipline throughout the Camp.
CONSTITUTION DAY AWARENESS
NSS DEGREE UNIT of KET's V. G. Vaze College ( Autonomous) under the initiative of AzadiKaAmritMahotsav. had organised EVENT ON CONSTITUTION DAY on 26th Nov 2022. The session was of reading PREAMBLE AND FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES and creating awareness among the volunteers and attendees , followed with the QUIZ COMPETITION and interactive session with the college colleagues where the questions were asked on our INDIAN CONSTITUTION and indeed it was an fun activity to do. Total 40 NSS volunteers participated in this activity and approx. 200 people were the beneficiaries directly from this activity. The event was well organised and the volunteers maintained disciplined throughout the whole event. All were enlightened with the wonderful session and the event happily ended under the guidance of our Program Officers.
LAATHI KATHI PRASHIKSHAN SHIBIR AS A SELF DEFENCE
Learning Lathi-Kathi is an interesting process and also contributes as self-defence for women without any particular weapon.
Me Mulundkar NGO has organized a 6 days self-defence training camp and supported by NSS DEGREE UNIT of KET'S V.G. VAZE COLLEGE of ARTS SCIENCE and COMMERCE . It was organised for women and girls from 26th Nov 2022 30th Nov 2022 over the age of 5years knowing the importance of self defence for training females . From NSS Degree Unit of V.G.Vaze College there were 7 female volunteers who participated to seek the LathiKathi training also 4 boys volunteers from our college to support the girls volunteers and also to get trained for LathiKathi. On day 1 i.e yesterday the basics of LathiKathi were taught Shirvar and Chirvar . And on the 2nd day (today) how to make moves while doing shirvar and Chirvar was taught. The age criteria was above 5 years many elderly women have also taken active participation and approximately 100 beneficiaries were there from event
AIDS AWARENESS
NSS UNIT DEGREE COLLEGE reported to DAV College to participate in the HIV-AIDS Awareness Rally on 1st Dec 2022 at 7.30. total 21 students participated in the rally.
ROAD SAFETY WEEK EVENT
On the occasion of road safety week the Traffic Police Department organised a Event at the Tata theatre of NCPA on 11th Jan. 2023 in the morning. NSS volunteers from various colleges were present at this grand event. There were many Police officers and other Government Officers at this event. Actor Jackie Shroff inaugurated the Event. Many informatory videos and short films on road safety were displayed. After that as CHIEF MINISTER OF OUR STATE SHRI EKNATH SHINDE were going to arrive at this event, all NSS volunteers were told to make a human chain to welcome our Respective CHIEF MINISTER. Many volunteers were holding slogans and posters for the same. Therefore, it was a great experience and a enthusiastic yet informative event. Total 20 volunteers participated from the NSS Unit of Vaze College.
SWACCHHA BHARAT ABHIYAN (CLEANILENESS DRIVE)
Cleanliness Drive organised by NSS Unit Vaze College understand the Swachha Bharat Abhiyan Activity in association with BMC. The event was held on 25th Feb. 2023 in the morning. Total 26 NSS Volunteers and approx. 10 people from the BMC staff participated in this activity and approx. 5000 beneficiaries directly or indirectly got the benefit from this activity. Our NSS volunteers were well equipped with the brooms, masks and gloves brought by BMC to do the cleaning of the roads around the college. Our Program Officers also joined this activity and boosted the spirit of our volunteers by taking up the broom themselves. It was a great experience of making our surroundings clean and it was a step ahead for a major social cause. With the help of our Program Officers the activity was successfully carried out.
THALASSAMIA AWARENESS SESSION, THALESSAMIA CHECKUP & BLOOD DONATION CAMP
Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder* that affects your bodies ability to produce haemoglobin and healthy red blood cells. Furthermore, patients inheriting Thalassemia major require lifelong treatment with blood transfusions . NSSDegree unitof KET’s V.G. Vaze College in Association with ARPAN THALASSEMIA SOCIETY organized a Thalassemia Awareness Session, Thalassemia Check-upCamp and Blood Donation drive on 27th Feb 2023 from. 9 am to 2 pm in the college premises. Attendees of the drive got to test their blood for thalassemia free of cost instead of getting it tested outside which is rather expensive. Total 38 people got their blood tested for thalassemia. Blood donation was also in place for treatment of thalassemia patients. A total of 22 peopledonated their blood for the cause. Short session of thalassemia was also conducted which briefed the students about thalassemia, its causes, symptoms and ways to treat it.The session was held in mini auditorium and the count of attendees of the session was 50 . It was a great experience for everyone involved and one is bound to feel proud after volunteering for an event of such magnitude.With the help of our Program officers the Event was Successfully Carried out.
WOMEN’S WEEK CELEBRATION
1. THE GUEST LECTURE SESSION ON WOMEN'S SAFETY ANTI-RAGGING AS WELL AS CYBER CRIME had been successfully organised by Woman Development Cell & NSS Degree Unit on 10th March 2023 from 11.30 am to 1.00 pm. Ragging is something we all have dreaded for our entire school & college life. In this women are mostly everywhere a target. So it's necessary we have a safe environment for them. On the other hand, Cybercrime is also on the peak in the age of internet. It is nothing but crimes committed through internet. The event started sharp at 11:30am in Radhabhai Vaze Main Auditorium with the humble presence of teachers, members of WDC staff and the administrative staff. Our guests of honour PSI Pravin Gajarmal and PSI Gauri Vichare from Crime Branch were welcomed and felicitated with samplings as token of appreciation. After the NSS Anthem and the Introduction to our guest the session began. Firstly Pravin Sir shaded light on the history of Mumbai Police Department, their work ethics and the meaning of term Ragging it's implication and solutions. He tried to analyse the purpose of Woman Safety with precise details of the Nirbhaya Squad. Secondly, Gauri Ma'am provided the students a peek into the Cyber Crime Department and various case studies. Then both of our respected chief guest responded to the queries of the students pertaining to Crime Against Woman Cell and many other complications. It was an insightful session, with the participation of 16 volunteers from NSS Degree Unit and the fellow students, who were direct beneficiaries were 4 in number. The program ended with vote of thanks to various departments who were supportive in making this session fruitful.
2. REPORT OF GUEST LECTURE ON THE TOPIC OF LEGAL REMEDIES FOR HARASSMENT AGAINST WOMEN.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Harassment against women is becoming an increasing concern in our society. In light of this, the NSS DEGREE UNIT of KET'S V.G Vaze college organized a guest lecture on the topic of legal remedies for harassment against women and awareness for men on 11th March 2023.The lecture was held in the main auditorium. Thesession was delivered by Supreme Court Adv. Vishhal Saxxenaa. Total 20 NSS volunteers (5 males and 15 females ) organized this event. 89 students and 16 teachers attended this guest lecture. The lecture covered topics like laws and acts to protect women against harassment and discussed how even men should be aware of these laws. Further it talked about the do's and don'ts if a woman is facing any form of harassment. All the important topics, coupled with Adv. Vishhal sir's good sense of humour and charisma made the lecture worthwhile. The help of programming officers made this event a great success.
Participation in State-National International Camp
Our Student Smruti Kadam got selected by University for National Level Adventure Camp at Atal Institute (ABVIMAS) Manali. She has completed this National Level Adventure camp successfully from 14th Oct. 2022 to 23rd Oct. 2022.
Leadership Training Program was organised by NSS University & attended by our student Omkar, from 10th Feb 2023 to 14th Feb 2023 at MIDC Ambarnath.
Participation in Inter Collegiate Events
UTTUNG is the annual inter-collegiate socio-cultural fest of the NSS Unit of R. A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics Autonomous, Matunga. Their tradition from the past few years of hosting a healthy competition and society's responsibility is passed on from batches of past years with the same enthusiasm, excitement, and aura. Our Kelkarites made us proud by withholding: 1st Prize in Mann ki Baat (Script Writing)- Shraddha Bhosale FYBA,1st Prize in Sports- Smruti Kadam SYBMS and Omka rPalkar SYBAMMC,2nd Prize in Jaanch Padtal (Seminar)- SmrutiAuti FYBAF and Riya Katira FYBA, 3rd Prize in Rangoli- Gujar Triveni FYBCOM, 3rd Prize in Glimpse of Uttung (After movie Video Editing)- Sangita Kalwa SYBCOM.
ANUBHUTI is the annual inter-collegiate socio-cultural fest of the NSS Unit of Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College, Matunga.Through this fest they create a space for others to competently and efficiently display their talents through a wide range of events. Our Kelkarites made us proud by withholding: 3rd Prize in LINGUIZEST (Exhibition and Explaination)-Forum Juwatkar &Sangita Kalwa (SYBCOM).
OTHER ACTIVITIES
NSS volunteers have participated in various activities which are conducted by University, District inter-college and college level activities time to time as per the guidelines by University. Such as Yoga Awareness Session and workshop at University, Mazhi-Vasundhara (Cleanliness’ Drive), Marathon-cyclothan, Constitution Day Awareness, stray dog feeding, Grain Donation Drive etc.
Students Celebrated Independence day & Republic Day (15th Aug 2022 & 26th Jan 2023) under the initiative of AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV and participated in various activities like Flag distribution, patriotic singing, street plays, etc.
NSS Volunteers participated in G D Kelkar Lecture series conducted on 6th & 7th Feb 2023.
