In the image below is the research group (Mechatronics Lab, MECH Department) that I worked in at the University of Alberta, Edmonton. In the first image, starting from the left, me, Bingsheng, Prof. Martin, Noah, and Ruifan. Edward(Yue Pan) is there in the second pic and Christopher is there in the third one(unfortunately couldn't have all of them in a single pic). Adam, unfortunately, was missing from this pic (sorry about that).
These people really made my summer of 2018 one of the best summers I ever had. The atmosphere in the lab was so full of encouragement and positivity that I cannot explain it in words. Everyone was super helpful and ever ready to help one another.
I spent the summer of 2017 (just after my sophomore year), at ISI (Indian Statistical Institute) Kolkata, working under the guidance of Dr. Sanchayan Santra and Dr. Ranjan Mondal. Here, I worked on dehazing an image (removing haze from an image) using a multi-scale convolutional neural network. I also had the pleasure of working with Nishant and Shubham (two of my closest friends) on this project, where we spent most of our days working hard on the problem and occasionally watching movies with chips and Coke. It was a really memorable experience, both for the research and for collaborating with so many brilliant people.
The work that we did was accepted as a research paper in the ICAPR 2017 conference. Below is the image where Ranjan Sir is presenting our paper titled "Image Dehazing via Joint Estimation of Transmittance Map and Environmental Illumination "
