Setup for PIV measurements

Rotating table facility

The rotating table facility is being used to study rotating natural convection and will be immensely useful to study rotating flows in general. Rotation speeds up to 5 rad/s (approximately 50 rpm) can be readily attained.

Wind tunnel facili ty

The wind tunnel facilty is a part of the ME department Fluid Mechanics Laboratory and is excellent for studying boundary layer flows. Flow speeds up to 10 m/s can be achieved in an empty test section (400 mm x 400 mm).

Water tunnel facility

The water tunnel facility is currently being assembled and will be used for studying, e.g.,  boundary layer flows. Flow speeds up to 4.5 m/s can be achieved in an empty test section of cross-section 100 mm x 70 mm.  The test section will have optical access from all four sides for visual observations/measurements.
