I am Pramod Kumar Das, completed B.Sc. Mathematics in 2011 from Jadavpur University (Kolkata) and earned M.Sc. Mathematics in 2013 from IIT Bombay (Mumbai). I completed Ph.D. Mathematics (Topological Dynamics) in October 2019 at the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematical Sciences , University of Delhi (New Delhi) under the supervision of Prof. Tarun Kumar Das. My research interest is in Ergodic Theory, Topological Dynamics and Commutative Algebra.
In my opinion, the primary role of an academician is teaching and research. These are not necessarily disjoint water-tight compartments though distinct. Some of the components of one's research projects often get intertwined with teaching of mathematics.
My objective is to pursue both in tandem. Good teaching fosters good research by drawing intelligent students towards mathematics propelling them to opt for state of the art elective courses and further on take on challenges in research. This however cannot be at an advanced level but essential to create a future layer of good young researchers who would put India on the world map.
At the same time I would like to drive my research forward through collaborations both within and outside of India. Dynamical systems in this country is still under-represented in contrast to other areas of mathematics. Dynamical systems is a vast and active area of mathematics owing to its interactions with other areas such as differential equations, differential geometry and number theory to name a few.
