On Sunday, September 12th, 2021, we livestreamed our tribute to Satyajit Ray in this his centenary year at 4 PM (EDT, US time). Please do forward this to anybody that you feel might be interested to watch. The URL above allows you to watch the recording.
“Reflections” takes the form of five short plays, each inspired by a story written by Ray, ranging from 10 minutes to almost 30 minutes each. Three are in English, and two in Bengali. Three are directed and produced by PRAMMS, and we are very happy to announce that two are directed by guest directors who accepted our invitation to join our celebration.
The five are of different tastes, a mix of serious and light-hearted, stylistic and realistic, each treatment reflecting what inspired the respective scriptwriters and directors, with Ray as the one constant beacon.
The directors in question, and their plays, are:
“Giving Him the Bird”, directed by Madhulavi Majumder (PRAMMS), based on “Nitaibabu-r Moyna"
“Fooled Ya!”, directed by Madhulavi Majumder, based on “Dhappa”
“Gagan Chowdhury’s Studio”, directed by Usha Bajpai and Aadi Singh of 4D Entertainment, based on “Gagan Chowdhury-r Studio”
"টেলিফোন" (“Telephone”), directed by Paritosh Biswas, based on the short story of the same name
"বাতিকবাবু" (“Batik-babu”), directed by Subroto Roy, based on the short story of the same name
Join us as we pay tribute to one of the all-time greats of performing art!
