Cell and Tissue Microenvironment Engineering Lab
Cell and Tissue Microenvironment Engineering Lab
The Pradhan Lab at IIT Madras is an interdisciplinary research group focused on creating and investigating engineered tissue microenvironments. We work at the interface of materials/polymer chemistry, microfabrication technologies, physiology, and drug development. In our research, we seek to: 1) develop novel hydrogel materials to mimic specific physiological and pathological tissue niches, 2) employ microfluidic fabrication and on-chip platforms to recapitulate vascular-stromal parenchyma, 3) understand mechanisms of cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions in 3D biomimetic microenvironments, and 4) investigate strategies for testing therapeutic efficacy of drugs (particularly in relation to cancer). The combination of these bioengineering techniques with mechanistic investigation of physiological processes is used to develop optimum therapeutic approaches for regenerative medicine and drug delivery.
We are a diverse team of researchers involving people from both engineering and science backgrounds from all across India. Check out our Research page to learn more about the lab.
