"Spectral Cities"
In "Spectral Cities," Pradeep Sukumaran conjures a dreamlike urban landscape that exists in a state of flux—hovering between memory, ruin, and regeneration. This monumental diptych, rendered in delicate yet deliberate linework, maps a dense thicket of architectural forms, figural traces, and symbolic systems. The dark, atmospheric palette creates the impression of a night-time metropolis or an archaeological excavation into the psyche.
Linear networks of electric blue, vermilion, and chalky white thread through the labyrinth, suggesting both neural circuits and city grids. The composition is alive with ghostly figures and skeletal structures, emerging and dissolving in a suspended state of becoming. Like a palimpsest, the layers suggest time’s imprint—buildings rising and falling, civilizations encoded in abstract topographies.
This work becomes an excavation of inner and outer worlds, where past and present, organic and constructed, all coexist in an intricate visual archaeology.
