Pradeep Puthoor is a contemporary visual artist based in Trivandrum, India. A graduate with high distinction from the College of Fine Arts, Trivandrum in 1988, he has received numerous prestigious accolades throughout his career. These include the National Award for Painting from the Lalit Kala Akademi in 1992, the State Art Academy Award in 2002, and the Royal Overseas League’s Overseas Award for Painting, London in 1997. He is a three-time recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant from New York (2003, 2019, 2024), and a two-time recipient of the Gottlieb Foundation Grant (2021, 2024). He was also awarded both the Junior Research Fellowship (1993) and Senior Research Fellowship (2008) in painting by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Pradeep participated in the Florence Biennale, Italy,2005 where he was honored with an award in Painting, and his work was auctioned by Christie’s, London in 2004 in support of “Warchild.” In 2006, he was awarded the Indo-German Residency Program Scholarship for painting in Berlin. He has executed commissioned works for the Indian Army and created large-scale murals across Trivandrum as part of the State Government’s Capital City Art Project. Over the years, he has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions, art camps, and artist residencies both in India and internationally.
