"Cartographies of Silence"
"Cartographies of Silence" is a vast and meditative triptych that resembles a map of a world both imagined and internal. In this work, Pradeep Sukumaran layers delicate, labyrinthine linework across a pale, atmospheric field. The piece invokes an aerial view of shifting terrains—psychological, architectural, and natural—where memory and intuition intertwine.
The intricate white pathways glide over soft gradients of silver, blue, and ochre, forming clusters, nodes, and almost-cities that resist strict definition. At once microscopic and cosmic, the painting invites slow reading, like a lost manuscript or a cartographic relic from a forgotten civilization.
Its silence is deliberate—both an absence and a presence—offering space for the viewer's own navigation, where the boundaries between reality and reverie dissolve.
