Left choose country.
Right choose country.
(Left) Open Data Table.
(Right) Right click on column one and choose "delete row."
Click uniform style and change to "style by data column" and choose "Percent Total".
Pick a color ramp and 4-6 categories (no more the 6).
"no labels" unless you choose a basemap without labels.
Note, I changed colors in the color ramp because there was no difference in some of the colors.
Try a base map that is NOT the default (everyone has seen the default).
BUT, make sure your "thematic layer" stand out ON TOP of the base map.
View "published" site to see how the "default view" looks.
Adjust "default view" in Google MyMaps.
Download data and create a new map and follow same instructions as above.
If you use more than one MyMap in the same Google Site, consider using the same base map and symbology to make the theme of the website look the same.
Add Rhineland Palatinate KMZ as separate layer and give it a style.
Experiment with 'normalizing data by area' instead of just raw count. When possible, normalizing data leads to better comparisons.
10 layer limit in MyMaps.
5mb limit per KML (KMZ are compressed KML so even smaller).
