In this training, participants will strengthen their understanding of the spectrum of self-harming behavior and how it presents in children and adolescents while gaining the necessary skills to assist parents in responding to self-harm in a helpful and safe manner. Learners will be introduced to strategies that will help them approach the topic of self-harming behavior with parents and how to support parents in approaching this important topic with their children. Lastly, participants will learn more about protective and preventative interventions that decrease the risk of self-harm and increase children's psychological resilience.

This training is intended for Parent Partner and LA County Peer Support Specialists working with parents, families and children.
This training will provide 3 hours of Parent Partner Continuing Education, and also meets C.E. requirements for SB803 recertification.
Judith Rose, LCSW
Judith Rose is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and their families. She is the Lead Clinician in the Urbaniak Clinic at the Center for Child and Family Health, a trauma-focused clinic in Durham, North Carolina. Additionally, Ms. Rose is a Registered Clinical Supervisor with NASW and a Training Facilitator for the North Carolina Child Treatment Program. Judith is rostered in a variety of trauma-focused evidence-based therapeutic approaches including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress, and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
