Hosted by the Los Angeles Training Consortium
This workshop will focus on the Parent’s Journey in moving from looking for help to becoming a Peer Parent Support provider. In this workshop we will explore the five stages of the Parent’s Journey and provide participants with an opportunity to explore their journeys that led them to Parent Peer Support. Participants will pair up and connect with one other partner to explore how the parent journey can provide a framework for building strong connections of equal partnership with the parents receiving support. Participants should come prepared to review and revisit their own experience.
It is highly recommended that you also take follow up training "From Documenting to Telling Your Story" as a companion to this topic.

presented by: PAT MILES
Patricia Miles lives in Gresham, Oregon and has been involved in a variety of community development and human service enterprises including starting a battered women’s shelter, running a youth employment program, directing a residential treatment center that turned itself inside out to do community-based work, and managing the start-up of a large scale implementation of wraparound in Columbus, Ohio. She is the co-author of many of the articles on her website (PaperBoat.com) and has been a leader in developing a consistent and reproducible model for strength-based, needs-driven facilitation of child and family teams, and has developed the Directive Supervision model for practical and effective integration of human resources, staff development, and staff supervision in human service agencies. On a more local note, Pat has been a large part of Los Angeles Wraparound, consulted at many LA County service providers, maybe even yours. She has trained extensively with the LATC and her trainings are always filled to rafters.
