Program Expectations

Mentors and Mentees are expected to meet once every three months to address the Mentee’s questions or concerns regarding the medical school application process and their preparation for medical school. The meetings may be informal (phone call/facetime/zoom/ etc) and the meeting time will be decided by the Mentor and Mentee together.

Mentors should:

  • Be available to answer small questions over email or text but may defer longer or more in-depth questions to the next quarterly meeting.

  • Inform the program coordinators if they are unable to fulfill meeting requirements due to time demands so that their mentee may receive a new placement.

  • Mentors will not be expected to read over/review Mentee’s application materials but themes/topics/content of application materials may be discussed during quarterly meetings.

Mentees should:

  • Take responsibility for reaching out to set up meetings with their Mentor.

  • Inform their Mentor and the program coordinators if they are no longer interested in participating in the program so the Mentor may be assigned a new partner.

Mentees or Mentors may reach out to the program coordinators if they have significant difficulties coordinating with their partner.
