Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Yalla ("Yalla", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Yalla mobile application (the "App").
Yalla is a sports activity platform that allows users to create and discover sports activities, specify activity locations and times, join activities with other users, communicate with activity participants, and navigate to activity locations.
By using Yalla, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
---
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to provide and improve the functionality of the App.
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account or sign in, we may collect:
- Email address.
- Name or display name, if provided.
- Authentication information necessary to securely manage your account.
Yalla may use Firebase Authentication and supported sign-in providers to authenticate users.
We do not collect or store your account password when authentication is handled by an external authentication provider.
---
2. Profile Information
You may choose to provide information for your profile, such as:
- Name or username.
- Profile picture.
- Other profile information made available through the App.
Your profile information may be visible to other users when necessary for the operation of sports activities, participation, and communication features.
---
3. Location Information
Location is an important part of Yalla's functionality.
3.1 How We Use Location
With your permission, Yalla may access your device's approximate or precise location while you are using relevant features of the App.
We use location information to:
- Determine your current location.
- Show sports activities that are located near you.
- Calculate the approximate distance between you and available activities.
- Apply distance filters selected by the user, such as nearby activity ranges.
- Help you navigate to the location of a sports activity.
- Track your progress toward an activity location while the navigation feature is actively being used.
3.2 Location During Navigation
When you start navigation to an activity location, Yalla may use your device's location while the navigation screen is actively being used to help you determine your progress toward the destination.
Yalla does not intentionally track your location continuously in the background when you are not actively using the relevant location or navigation feature.
3.3 Location Sharing
Yalla does not provide other users with your live location.
Your current device location is not intentionally shared with:
- Activity creators.
- Activity participants.
- Other users.
The location of a sports activity is separate from the personal location of its participants.
For example, when you create an activity, you may specify the location where the activity will take place. Other users may see the activity location because it is part of the activity information.
---
4. Sports Activities
When you create or join an activity, we may collect and store information necessary to operate the activity, including:
- Activity name or title.
- Type of sport.
- Activity date and time.

- Activity status and related information.
This information is used to allow users to create, discover, join, and manage sports activities.
---
5. Activity Visibility and Distance Filtering
Yalla may use location information and the activity's specified location to determine which activities are relevant to a user based on distance.
For example, an activity may be configured to appear to users within a selected range such as 5 km, 10 km, or 20 km.
This distance calculation is used to improve activity discovery and does not mean that your exact location is publicly displayed to other users.
---
6. Group Chat and Communications
Yalla provides communication features for users participating in sports activities.
When you use the activity chat, we may collect and store:
- Messages you send.
- Information associated with the message, such as the sender and activity/group it belongs to.
- Message timestamps and related technical information required to operate the chat.
Chat data is used to allow participants of the relevant activity to communicate with each other.
Access to an activity's group chat is restricted according to the participation and access rules implemented by the App.
We do not use private chat messages for advertising purposes.
