This Privacy Policy explains how the Tabs Session Saver Chrome Extension (“the Extension”) processes user data.
The Extension is designed to operate locally on the user’s device. It does not collect, sell, share, or transmit personal data to third parties, except for the limited and transparent use of externally hosted static assets as described below.
The Extension does not collect or process personal data on external servers.
Specifically:
It does not collect names, email addresses, account information, or unique identifiers.
It does not perform user tracking, profiling, analytics, or advertising.
It does not transmit saved sessions, browsing activity, preferences, or tab data outside the browser.
All session data (including tab titles, URLs, window structure, and tab groups) and user preferences are stored locally using the chrome.storage.local API and remain accessible only to the Extension.
The Extension requests only the permissions required to fulfill its single purpose: saving and restoring browser tab sessions.
tabs
Used to read tab metadata (titles, URLs, state) when the user explicitly clicks “Save tabs”, and to reopen tabs when restoring a session.
tabGroups
Used to read and restore Chrome Tab Group information (such as group title, color, and tab membership) so that grouped tabs are preserved accurately when saving and restoring sessions.
windows
Used to capture and restore window-level information (such as window state and position) when recreating saved sessions.
storage
Used exclusively to store saved sessions and user preferences locally on the user’s device.
These permissions are only exercised in response to explicit user actions and are never used for background tracking or automated data collection.
All core functionalities of the Extension execute entirely on the user’s device and do not communicate with external APIs or databases.
Static assets exception:
The Extension’s welcome page displays images (such as screenshots and logos) hosted on a Google Cloud Storage public bucket. When the welcome page is opened, the browser may request these static image files from Google Cloud Storage servers.
These requests:
do not include saved sessions, tab URLs, preferences, or any user-generated data;
are limited to standard technical information (e.g., IP address, browser details) inherent to any web request;
are subject to Google Cloud’s own privacy and security policies.
The Extension does not use Google Cloud services for analytics, tracking, or data processing.
The Extension interacts with third-party services only in the following limited contexts:
Google Cloud Storage — hosting of static, non-interactive images used in the welcome page.
Chrome Web Store — distribution of the Extension and updates.
Google Sites — hosting of this Privacy Policy.
No session data, browsing information, or personal data is transmitted to or shared with these services.
All actions performed by the Extension require explicit user interaction. Users retain full control over their data and can:
save, rename, restore, preview, or delete sessions;
remove individual tabs from saved sessions;
export and import session backups in JSON format;
uninstall the Extension at any time, which permanently removes all locally stored data.
Saved sessions and user preferences are stored exclusively on the user’s device and persist only until the user deletes them or uninstalls the Extension.
The Extension is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect or process data from children.
This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect changes in functionality, permissions, or legal requirements. Any updates will be published in this document and will not reduce user privacy without appropriate notice.
