Domain-Specific Settings: Your preferred currency pairs for specific websites
Tax/Fee Percentages: Your saved tax or fee calculation preferences

Important: All this data is stored locally on your device and is NOT transmitted to our servers or any third parties.

Data We DO NOT Collect

We do NOT collect, store, or transmit:

Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
Browsing history or web activity
Payment information or financial data
Login credentials or passwords

External Services

The Extension connects to the following external services to provide its core functionality:

1. Currency Exchange Rate API

Service: cdn.moneyconvert.net
Purpose: Fetch current currency exchange rates
Data Sent: None (simple GET request)
Data Received: Currency exchange rates (public data)

2. Geographic Location Detection

Services: ipapi.co and cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/trace
Purpose: Detect your country to automatically suggest appropriate base currency
Data Sent: Your IP address (automatically sent by your browser)
Data Received: Country code only (e.g., "US", "UK")
Fallback: If location detection fails, the Extension uses your browser's language setting

Note: IP addresses are processed by these third-party services according to their own privacy policies. We do not store, log, or transmit your IP address ourselves.

How We Use Data

Local Data Usage

Data stored locally is used exclusively to:

Remember your currency preferences and settings
Provide offline conversion functionality with cached rates
Automatically detect and convert prices on web pages

Purpose: Schedule automatic updates of currency exchange rates in the background (every 6 hours)

Side Panel Permission

Purpose: Provide an expanded currency converter interface with detailed features

Host Permissions

cdn.moneyconvert.net: Fetch currency exchange rates
ipapi.co: Detect your country for automatic currency selection
cloudflare.com: Fallback country detection service

Content Scripts (All Websites)

Purpose: Detect prices on web pages and provide inline conversion tooltips
Data Access: Reads text content to identify currency amounts only
Data Stored: None (detection happens in real-time, nothing is saved)

Data Security

All data is stored locally using Chrome's secure storage API
No data transmission to external servers (except for fetching public exchange rates)
No user accounts, no login required, no authentication data stored

Your Rights

Access Your Data

All your data is stored locally in Chrome's storage. You can view it using Chrome's Developer Tools.

Delete Your Data

You can delete all Extension data by:

Uninstalling the Extension (removes all local data)
Clearing Extension storage in Chrome settings
Using the "Reset Settings" option in the Extension (if available)

Opt-Out of Location Detection

The Extension will work without location detection. It will use USD as the default currency or your manually selected currency.

Children's Privacy

The Extension does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13 years of age. The Extension is suitable for all ages as it does not collect personal information.
