The small playground at Prince of Wales School is at the end of its life and will be removed in Summer 2026. This playground is heavily used by students and the surrounding community. We are proposing a comprehensive park revitalization project that includes a new playground, two basketball nets, three raised garden beds, a mural wall, the planting of 50 trees and shrubs, natural landscaped play areas, and seating for 60. The goal for this revitalized space is to create an inclusive, welcoming and culturally responsive environment where wellness, creativity, and community thrive together.

Children from the neighborhoods of Parkland and Legacy attend the growing Prince of Wales School. Additionally, Topp Kids after school program operates out of the school. The park revitalization will provide new play opportunities for both physical, social, emotional play, as well as the mental health and biodiversity benefits associated with green spaces. Natural landscaped areas are inclusive by design and will offer an amazing welcoming hub for all.  Students, families, and local residents will enjoy an inclusive, accessible space that promotes connection, exploration, and lifelong healthy living.

To achieve this park revitalization Prince of Wales Parent Council and Friends of Parkland Way Society (the school's fundraising society) is responsible for raising approximately $258,510.00. The current playground is set to be demolished in 2026. Due to this urgency and need please consider donating to the project.
