What is Powerful Pairings?
Powerful Pairings is the work of Kelley Brown, Claudia Friddell and Laurie Risler in helping educators match primary sources with nonfiction narrative children's books as a method for teaching history, inquiry, writing and research. Through professional development, collaboration and reflective implementation educators work to find primary sources that pair with selected nonfiction stories to teach history, writing and research. Powerful Pairings is sponsored in part by the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Eastern Region Program, coordinated by Waynesburg University.
