Another big improvement is the ability to control EFI adjustments based on additional inputs such as gear position. For example you may want to lean the mixture a bit for 6th gear highway cruising for better MPG? No problem, the options are nearly endless and can be easily configured in the PC V software. You can also easily configure the PC-V to run 2 maps using any open/closed style switch. PC V continues to allow users to raise the Rev limiter to 6200 RPM's and the Accellerator pump feature is included in the software. Gone is the 9V battery adapter that was required on the PC III USB for powering the unit when removed from the bike to make changes, the PC V now is powered thru the USB connection when removed from the bike.

The Auto Tune kit can also use the Dynojet map switch or any open/closed switch which allows the user to switch between live tuning to the parameters set thru the PC V software or the base map in the PC V unit. You can leave the map switch in "live" mode, or if you want to write the fuel map you can connect to the PC V software, retrieve the fuel trims and either write them to the map or clear them. The firmware and tuning strategy has been well written and in our testing we have been able to develop very, very accurate maps using the Auto Tune module opposed to some of the other Auto tune units on the market we have tested in the past. We have also compared several Auto Tune derived maps to dyno tuned maps and the results were impressive.

What I've come to learn about this bike and PCV maps is that the PCV maps are just a generic baseline map to get you close. There are many variables that go into tuning IE air temp, altitude, humidity etc. Dynojet's facility is in Nevada so being in a different location than that, the map will not be correct. It's a start but not precise. I ran their DNA filter and Akra Ti map on mine and it was way off. I had a huge flat spot after about 5 to 6000rpm it just felt dead. Seeing as how I don't have any dyno shops near me I opted to fit the autotune on mine with the removal of the stock O2 sensor. I made a map with AFR's ranging from 13.5 in the cruising zone to 13.2 and 13.1 on the top end and after a few rides to let autotune correct the map, my bike became a beast. Now I'm not saying go out and buy an autotune that's purely up to you, but I would say at least paying for a dyno session with the use of a wideband O2 sensor or sniffer would get you the best running map you could get.

You could look at the Graves map and set your ignition advances to what Graves did in their tune, just be sure to run premium gas afterwards just Incase. Ask someone if that will hurt the bike , maybe JD @ Hordpower could tell you if that would hurt or not.

2nd ? after pondering what you said for a moment: the map running for a full race exhaust on your bike with a stock exhaust will probably be a little rich because the PCV may..MAY be adding more fuel than needed so even with a high flow filter your AFR could be back to what it was @ stock fueling (12.0 to 12.5 afr) and yours is just not moving enough air the bike , more air coming in still needs to get out and still needs to be achieving proper AFR under load to get some more power up top.

at 20 mpg, something is really wrong unless you are just full WOT all day every day. I would load a zero map, zero out all the settings (accelerator pump, warm up enrichment etc...) and see if it gets better. 20 mpg sounds like the previous owner did something very stupid with the powercommander.

no you do not need an autotune to load the map, just the pcV it self. Even if you had a powercommander 3, you could still run the pcv map, you would just have to punch in the table manually and interpolate some of the cells....

I've since had my bike dyno tuned so now I have 3. And since a few people have asked for maps I figured I'd try and stick them in here. I do have one or two other maps that were sent to me but I want to get permission to post it before I add them.

Use these maps at your own risk, since they came from members that are using them there shouldn't be any issues. BUT they may cause you bike to run too lean or too rich. You should at least check your plugs after running them to make sure your bike is running right. e24fc04721
