Desktop flows broaden the existing robotic process automation (RPA) capabilities in Power Automate and enable you to automate all repetitive desktop processes. Automating is quicker and easier than ever with the new intuitive Power Automate desktop flow designer using the prebuilt drag-and-drop actions or recording your own desktop flows to run later.

If you're a home user who is accessing a weather website to see tomorrow's forecast or a self-employed businessperson extracting information from vendors' invoices or even an employee of a large enterprise who automates data entry on an ERP system, Power Automate is designed for you.

It allows you to automate both legacy applications, such as terminal emulators, modern web and desktop applications, Excel files, and folders. You can interact with the machine using application UI elements, images, or coordinates.

Download and install Power Automate using an MSI installer or from Microsoft Store. The Microsoft Store installation doesn't require you to have admin rights on your device and is updated automatically regularly. The MSI installer requires admin rights and requires manual updates. However it also includes an option to install the machine runtime application, which allows you to manage machines from the Power Automate portal. You can use the Power Automate for desktop store installation in conjunction with the runtime application, which you can install from the MSI.

By default, Power Automate for desktop honors the proxy settings specified in Windows. To learn how to override this configuration for the Power Automate console, go to Power Automate for desktop using a proxy server. To learn how to configure proxy settings for the machine runtime, go to override them after install.

Machine-runtime app allows you to connect your machine to the Power Automate cloud and harness the full power of robotic process automation (RPA). Learn more about machine management.

There is only one Power Automate installer for both 32-bit and 64-bit computers. It automatically identifies the architecture of your operating system and proceeds to install the suitable version of the files accordingly.

By default, Power Automate for desktop notifies you when a new version is available. Select Update to automatically download and open the latest installer for your region. You must have admin permissions on your local computer to perform the update. Updating to the latest version is recommended to have the latest features and bug fixes.

Autoupdate isn't currently supported with the MSI installation. To learn about managing Power Automate for desktop using System Center Configuration Manager, go to Manage Power Automate for desktop on Windows.

In 2020, Microsoft Power Automate doubled down on its investments in the robotic process automation (RPA) space with the introduction of Microsoft Power Automate Desktop. We first introduced RPA in Power Automate at Microsoft Ignite in 2019, and we have seen tremendous growth with hundreds of thousands of organizations using Power Automate and taking billions of actions each month.

Today, we are continuing this momentum by announcing that desktop automation in Power Automate Desktop will be available to Windows 10 users at no additional cost. Windows 10 users can harness the power of low-code RPA by downloading Power Automate Desktop on March 2, and it will be included in Windows Insider Preview builds in the coming weeks.

Keep reading to learn how this user-friendly, low-code application empowers coders and non-coders alike to optimize their workflows by automating repetitive and time-consuming manual tasks in Windows 10.

In addition to the capabilities you get with Power Automate Desktop for Windows 10, you can extend this one step further with capabilities in the Power Automate per user with Attended RPA plan. With this you can enable automations across an organization to share and collaborate across flows, access more than 400 built-in connectors through cloud flows, identify bottlenecks in your business processes with process advisor (preview), extract data from documents in AI Builder, and manage and control flows with centralized governance.

To take advantage of these capabilities and to further support organizations seeking to adopt RPA, we are introducing a limited time offer. Beginning April 1, 2021, and available through September 30, 2021, the Power Automate per user plan with attended RPA will be available for $15 per user per month. The limited time offer will be available to eligible customers in commercial, and United States government and worldwide government through volume licensing (VL), cloud solution provider (CSP), and web direct channels. A minimum purchase of 5,000 licenses and other conditions may apply.

Coca-Cola Bottling Company United (Coca-Cola United) is one example of a company taking advantage of additional RPA capabilities in Power Automate today to reduce errors and streamline their order management.

Be on the lookout for the Power Automate per user plan with attended RPA limited time offer to become available on April 1. In the meantime, learn more about Power Automate plans and pricing.

By bringing RPA to Windows 10 users, everyone across an organization can collectively focus on work that makes a difference for the bottom line. Start your desktop automation journey today by downloading the Power Automate Desktop app.

Backstory: A company I'm working with wants to upload documents to a SharePoint drive from Power Automate Desktop. After extensive research, I found that it wasn't really a smooth process to do such specifically from the desktop, so I figured creating a cloud flow and embedding the running of the desktop flow would be the best bet.

To connect to the machine running the desktop flow, I am trying to add it to the "monitor" section of the power automate platform (Need to use direct connect), but after going through the steps it seems as if I'm not given the option to add the machine for some reason?

I may be missing something extremely obvious, such as licensing (I believe I even opted into the trial, as I have the option to click the run desktop flow option which is premium). I've attached screenshots to verify my environment, as well as what I see in the settings portion of power automate desktop.

Thank you for the assistance - I actually signed up for the premium trial yesterday, but still have had no luck. I've done every form of trouble shooting, as well as removing the free licensing from my account just incase it was overriding the newly purchased RPA attended trial license (Attached).
