Story: Sammy Learns About Gun Safety

Once upon a time in a small, peaceful town, there lived a curious and adventurous little boy named Sammy. Sammy loved exploring and discovering new things. He had a knack for finding hidden treasures and always imagined himself as a brave explorer.

One sunny afternoon, Sammy was playing in the backyard of his home. He was digging for imaginary treasure when he noticed something shiny sticking out from the dirt near the garden shed. His eyes widened with excitement. "What could it be?" he thought.

As Sammy brushed away the dirt, he uncovered a small, metal object. It was a gun. Sammy had seen guns on TV and in movies, but he had never seen one up close before. He felt a mix of curiosity and excitement. Without thinking, he reached out to pick it up.

Just then, Sammy remembered a story his parents had told him many times. It was about a little boy named Timmy who found a gun and accidentally hurt himself. His parents had always stressed the importance of telling an adult if he ever found a gun.

Sammy's excitement quickly turned into worry. He didn't want to end up like Timmy. He stood up, brushed off his hands, and ran inside to find his mom.

"Mom! Mom!" Sammy called as he burst into the kitchen, where his mom was baking cookies.

"What's wrong, Sammy?" his mom asked, concerned.

"I found something in the backyard, near the shed. It's a gun!" Sammy said, his eyes wide with worry.

Sammy's mom immediately stopped what she was doing. "Thank you for telling me, Sammy. You did the right thing. Guns are very dangerous and should only be handled by adults."

She took Sammy by the hand and led him back to the garden shed. She carefully looked at the gun without touching it. Then, she called the local police to come and safely remove it.

A friendly police officer arrived shortly after. He praised Sammy for his smart decision. "You did a great job, Sammy," the officer said. "It's very important to never touch a gun and always tell an adult if you find one."

Sammy felt proud of himself. He realized that being brave wasn't about picking up dangerous things but about making the right choices and keeping everyone safe.

That evening, Sammy's parents sat down with him to talk more about gun safety. They explained that guns are not toys and can be very harmful if not handled properly. They also showed Sammy some safety rules, like never pointing a gun at anyone and always treating every gun as if it were loaded.

From that day on, Sammy knew exactly what to do if he ever found a gun again. He promised himself that he would always be a safety hero and make sure to tell an adult. He even shared his story with his friends, so they would know what to do too.
