Hi, I’m Gideon — a bass player, guitarist, songwriter, and music educator based in El Paso.
I’ve been playing music since I was 16, and over the years I’ve grown from learning my first songs to performing in a band, writing original music, and producing and releasing tracks on Spotify, with more finished work still waiting to be released. Music has always been more than just a hobby for me — it’s been a way to think, create, and connect with people.
Alongside being a working musician, I’m also an education student, and that combination shapes everything about how I teach. I don’t believe in rushing students through random riffs or throwing information at them without context. Instead, I focus on strong foundations, clear understanding, and learning through real songs — the kind of music that made us want to pick up an instrument in the first place.
In lessons, I care just as much about how students learn as what they learn. My goal is to help students build confidence, develop healthy practice habits, and actually understand what they’re playing — not just copy finger positions. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking ownership of their progress.
Whether someone is picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to level up their skills, I aim to create a supportive, low-pressure environment where learning feels intentional, creative, and enjoyable. Music should feel personal, not intimidating — and my goal is to help students build a relationship with their instrument that lasts.
Outside of the classroom, I’ve worked on many creative projects as a musician, songwriter, and producer. I’ve written, recorded, and produced original music, some of which is released on streaming platforms, with more currently in progress. Below you can see released projects where I was involved in both the song-writing and production processes.
