Ensure that the area is as flat and level as possible.
Remove all weeds, grass roots and any other vegetative material.
The pebbles will need to be “contained” with an edging of sorts; this could be a sharp cut edge of lawn, a brickwork edge or wooden terra-edging. Ensure that this is in place before commencing with the gravel or pebbles.
In all areas except driveways and parking areas place down weed-guard
If you are creating a foot path incorporating some stepping stones is suggested for overall comfort and aesthetic appeal.
Spread out the gravel or pebbles as per our coverage suggestions below.
Coverage for Pebbles
Our pebbles come packaged in a standard 20kg bag, but the weight may vary as different stones weigh differently.
Extra-small and small pebbles 20mm to 40mm. You will require 4 bags (approximately 70 to 80kg) of pebbles per square meter.
Medium pebbles(50mm to 65mm). You will require 4 bags (approximately 70 to 80kg) per square meter.
Large and extra-large pebbles 70mm to 130mm. You will require between 5 and 6 bags (approximately 90 to 120kg) per square meter.
Coverage for Crushed Stone/Gravel/Dump Rock
Our crushed stones come packaged in a standard 20kg bag, but the weight can vary as different stones weigh differently.
13mm to 19mm. You will require 4 bags (approximately 70 to 80kg) of crushed stone per square meter, this will give you a thickness of about 3-4cm.
Balista/Dump Rock (37mm to 65mm). You will require between 4 and 5 bags (approximately 80 to 100kg) per square meter.
Large Dump Rock 150mm - 300mm. A ton covers roughly between 6-8 square meters.
