Anything that will stay on while traveling through the mail! For your base “postcard,” try using cardstock, thin cardboard, a cut-up cereal box, one side of a greeting card, watercolor paper, or a photograph (mounted on something thicker, or even laminated). You can also quilt a postcard, and we’re excited to see what other resourceful ideas you come up with!
(Tip: If you attach or glue a lot of loose things (or glitter) to your postcard, or if you use smudgeable materials like charcoal or pastels, consider adding a top coat of glue, Mod Podge, or some other sealant so that they don’t fall off in transit.)
The “picture” side (without the address/stamp). You’re welcome to decorate or write a message on the address side of the card as well, but the picture side is what will eventually be displayed in the community exhibition.
35¢, though if the card is very heavy, it may cost more to mail.
There’s no deadline, so keep them coming!
They’ll be displayed at our annual Art Exhibition & Celebration in October 2020, and may be featured online in the meantime.
Postcards will be exhibited without names online and at the 2020 AFJ Exhibition & celebration.
(Note that if you sign your work of art visibly (on the picture side), then your name will be visible to viewers!)
