Scholarships Offered by the American Legion
The American Legion Auxiliary believes that the more knowledge our young people gain, the better citizens they will become. That is why the organization is so committed to education. Investing in the education of our young people is investing in the future of our country.
Time and again we hear about the difference an American Legion Auxiliary scholarship has made in a person’s life, providing unimagined experiences and opening up a world of opportunities. The Auxiliary supports a number of scholarship programs that benefit veterans, the children of our veterans, and the members of the organizations within The American Legion Family.
If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, check out the links below for eligibility requirements, deadlines, and application forms.
Right now, any senior boy or girl who is a descendant of a veteran can apply for a scholarship. Submit applications to Lorraine Bouchard at Post 34. https://www.alaforveterans.org/scholarships/ http://www.rialaux.org/programsservices.aspx

This year’s national meeting is a must-go-to, as it’s being held locally, here in Rhode Island! For more info, contact Brenda Peloquin or Lorraine Bouchard.
Plan on attending Frank’s annual fundraiser in honor of his son. Frank and his awesome band always come through by playing all our favorite “oldies”. (You know, like the songs of the 60s and 70s.)
Delicious Spare Rib Dinner put on the SAL members. This is always a delicious dinner, come and enjoy it with us.
Starting at 12:00 noon, you can come to eat or pick up to go a delicious, home cooked traditional (American!) corned beef and cabbage meal for $9. The meal will be served until we run out of food. Volunteers are needed and welcome at any time of the day to help out.
Meat Raffles are a great way to meet other members of the Legion in a fun, only slightly competitive, way! How to play: pick a set of cards, and if all of your numbers are called, you get to select a number. That number, in turn, corresponds to a different cut of meat. Could be chicken, could be beef. Who knows? $1 per game. Winners encouraged to do a “happy dance” to entertain the losers and keep them interested! Special raffles also often held for freshly cut fish, scallops or clams. Separate 50/50 raffle. Pot luck dinner following the raffle. It’s always a good time!
