WIC helps income eligible pregnant and breastfeeding women, women who recently had a baby, infants, and children up to five years of age who are at health risk due to inadequate nutrition.
The WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is a dual purpose program which benefits both WIC participants and farmers. In the program, WIC participants are given four $5 coupons ($20 total) with which to purchase authorized fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs from authorized farmers at farmers’ markets and farm stands from May - October. In Ohio, the FMNP began as a privately funded program in 1992 and received federal funding beginning in 1994.
Eligible seniors age 60+ with low income can receive $50 worth of vouchers to use at the farmers markets May 1 - October 31.
