Welcome to Arts Fest 2024

10:00 - 5:00 ⭕️ September 14 ⭕️ 3300 Alpine Rd. Portola Valley

Come join us for this year's gathering of our creative community.

All Kinds of Art

Local Food & Wine

Art Activities all day

Music & Literary Events

Deeply rooted in the community, the Arts Fest has heart and talent.

The Portola Valley Arts Fest exists in a unique place between other events you may have attended. It is more home-spun and intimate than your average town art festival, and yet it is of a higher quality than your average community art event since many local, professional artists are on display. It is a festival of the arts, but at its core, it is an expression of our creative connections to each other. Come catch up with friends, do some art activities, hear local authors read their work, buy a painting, hear some live music or maybe just kick beachballs with your toddler in the field under the redwoods and relax with local wine and food.

Performances all day long.

KIDS: The morning will have a children's focus with story time of local authors' books and an hour of silly, sweet music and acts  from our Portola Valley Theater Conservatory. (Plenty there to be enjoyed by all ages.)

EVERYONE: The afternoon will be a mixture of back-to-back literary events and music. In the spirit of the Creative Circle, we will have events which look into the process as well as the presentation of these arts. I am excited to close out the day with an "Irish pub under the redwoods." I invite you to join the joyful music at our cèilí.

10:30 am -- Local Author Story Time

for the Kid in all of us in conjunction with our wonderful PV Public Library

11:00 am -- Variety Show

Local youth from the Portola Valley Theater Conservatory will perform selections from this summer's musical, Shrek Jr., and an original pre-show experience, The Stinking Onion.

😱This is an evolving schedule.🫣

You will know when you can trust these times and performances when this disclaimer is gone.

1:00 pm -- Jen & Jim

Their beautiful music mixing vocals and guitar seems the perfect soundtrack to the lovely setting, beautiful art and some post-lunch languor. (Taco Truck and Little Sky Bakery... yum!)

2:00 pm -- I am working on something very special for this spot. 🤞🏽 🤞🏻 🤞🏿

3:00 pm -- Local Author Readings

Ellen Barker, Toby Brooks, Miriam Freedman... Come enjoy excerpts from their recent publications exploring community, family and the life choices which shape our paths.

4:00 Barry O'Connell and Friends

This award-winning musician will recreate the energy and joy of a traditional Irish cèilí in our performance space under the redwoods. A bit of Guinness may be on offer to complete our Irish pub California style!

Group Exhibition

Metal Smith Katie El Fishawy poses before her cast jewelry.  Libby Raab's paper weavings in the Group Exhibition caught the eye of the director at CSMA who offered her a solo show.

In addition to nearly 30 artists selling their work from booths on the church grounds, approximately 15 artists will be showing their work in the Group Exhibition in Peabody Hall.

Arts Fest artists Jean Pettigrew Whelan and Kevin Gill were selected for the 2023 De Young Open.

The Group Exhibition is the fullest expression of the community spirit of the Arts Fest. People who may not have time to produce the amount of art which warrants a booth hang their work side-by-side with professional artists and those whose work can be seen in museums.
