Mi presento:
Sono Matilde Marconi, una giovane professionista nell’ambito della creazione di abbigliamento e costume per teatro, e questo è il mio portfolio.
Già da bambina mi divertivo a creare abiti con vari materiali alle mie barbie, e crescendo ho scelto di approfondire questo mio interesse iscrivendomi alla scuola di sartoria di Viganello. Nel contempo ero anche molto affascinata dalla storia, gli usi e costumi delle varie epoche e le vite dei grandi personaggi.
Ero al secondo anno di professionale, quando una lampadina mi si è accesa in testa: “E se unissi il mio grande interesse per la storia e le storie, con l’amore per la mia professione?” ed è così che ho deciso di studiare per diventare costumista. Prima però, una vota finita la scuola di sartoria, decisi di specializzarmi come tecnico di modellistica e progettazione collezione per industria, percorso che mi ha dato molto nel campo della programmazione e realizzazione di progetti. Ho infine frequentato una specializzazione professionale all’EPAI di Friborgo, dove nel 2021 mi sono diplomata come costumista per teatro.
Al termine di quest’ultima formazione ho fatto vari stage in Italia uno dei quali all’atelier Tirelli di Roma, dove ho potuto perfezionare le mie tecniche di tintura, sfruttare le mie conoscenze di tecnico dell’abbigliamento per le schede tecniche e apprendere nuove lavorazioni. Mi sono poi trasferita a San Diego, dove per un anno, grazie ad un programma di Visiting Scholar ho collaborato con vari teatri della città come sarta e dresser. Ho infine lavorato come assistente costumista per la prima mondiale del musical “Bottle Shock” al California Center of Arts di Escondido.
Terminato il mio anno di collaborazione con l’Università della California di San Diego sono rientrata in Svizzera, dove ho partecipato alla produzione di “Amerika” all’ Opernhaus di Zurigo come stagista assistente costumista. Ho poi deciso di perfezionare il mio tedesco, e sono quindi partita per Berlino, dove per due mesi ho preso lezioni intensive, per poi fare due settimane a Vicenza, dove ho collaborato al festival “Be Popular” di Stivalaccio Teatro.
Rientrata in Svizzera ho lavorato come docente di sartoria in un cantone bilingue franco-tedesco, e sono ora pronta a fare nuove esperienze e intraprendere nuove sfide.
Come potete notare leggendo questa piccola presentazione, amo viaggiare e cambiare orizzonti poiché trovo stimolante e arricchente incontrare nuove persone, confrontarsi con culture diverse e imparare sempre cose nuove.

Let me introduce myself:
My name is Matilde Marconi I’m a young costume designer and dressmaker/garment technician and this is my portfolio.
Here a little presentation of myself:
Since I can remember I had a fascination for fashion and self-expression through clothes, and as I was a child I loved creating clothes for my barbies with various and non-conventional materials. It was so kind of written in my fate that growing up I would have chosen to study as a dressmaker, and so I did.
As I was in the second Year of my dressmaking school something clicked in my brain: “What if I mix the love for my job with the interest I always had for history and stories?” and that’s how I decided to study in order to become a costume designer. I however firstly specialized as a garment technician in patternmaking and industrial production management. Specialization that taught me a lot on how to manage big projects. I then at last specialized as a theatre costume designer at the EPAI school in Fribourg where I graduated in 2021.
At the end of all my studies I took part at various internships in Italy, one of which was at the Atelier Tirelli in Rome, and where I had the opportunity to perfect my dyeing techniques as well as to use the knowledge I have as a garment technician for technical sheets and learn new manufacturing processes. I then moved for a year in San Diego, where thanks to a Visiting Scholar program, I worked with various theatres as a stitcher and dresser to then, as my last job there, work as assistant costume designer for the word premiere of the musical “Bottle Shock” at the California Center of Arts in Escondido.
Once my collaboration with the University of California in San Diego ended, I came back to Switzerland where I took part at the “Amerika” production at the Opernhaus in Zürich as the assistant costume designer intern. I then decided to perfect my German and I therefore moved for a couple of months to Berlin where I took intensive German classes, to then “move” again and take part of the two week long “Be Popular” theatre festival organized by Stivalaccio Teatro in Vicenza.
Once back in Switzerland i worked as a dressmaking teacher in a bilingual French-German canton, and i'm now ready to face new challenges.
