Lastly, I am thankful to my classmates and my family, whose consistent support and encouragement gave me the strength to keep moving forward. Completing Assessment in Learning 2 has not only enriched my knowledge, but also helped me reflect, build confidence, and strengthen the relationships that make learning truly impactful. These experiences will continue to guide and inspire me as I move forward in my journey as an educator.
Lesson 1 focused on Measures of Central Tendency, Measures of Variability, and Fractiles. The quizzes helped me assess how much I had learned from our previous discussions. Through this activity, I was able to identify the areas where I still need improvement, especially in solving mathematical problems. It also contributed to the development of my problem-solving skills and allowed me to reflect on how I process and apply statistical concepts.
The Team Plan activity in our Team Teaching experience was also very helpful because it showed how statistics can be applied to assess students' performance. It made me realize that statistics is not just about dealing with numbers but also about using data to make informed and meaningful decisions. Overall, Lesson 1 gave me a strong foundation in the basics of statistics and helped me understand its importance in education and in making decisions in real-life situations.
The tasks and activities in Lesson 2 helped me to understand more about the Alternative Assessment. The alternative assessments, quizzes, and tasks we did in class greatly helped me as a student. They allowed me to check my understanding, identify areas where I needed improvement, and apply what I learned in practical ways. These activities also strengthened my problem-solving and critical thinking skills, making the lessons more meaningful and engaging. Instead of memorizing concepts, I was encouraged to analyze, reflect, and think deeply about using the knowledge in different situations. This made my learning experience more active and effective.
As a future teacher, I realized the importance of using different types of assessments to address the diverse needs and abilities of students. Alternative assessments go beyond memorization; they help students connect lessons to real life situations and build essential skills such as collaboration, communication, and creativity. I also learned how assessment can be a tool for growth, not just for grading. It showed me how data can guide teaching strategies and improve learning outcomes. This experience has taught me to value assessments that are not only fair but also purposeful, flexible, and relevant in preparing students for real world challenges.
Lesson 3 taught me how to create clear and specific learning targets. I learned that learning targets help make the goals of a lesson easier to understand. These targets must be written in a simple and easy-to-follow way so that the purpose of the lesson is clear. I also realized that a good learning target should be measurable, so it's possible to check if the goal was reached. This chapter helps us to apply what we have learned from the discussion by guiding us in writing learning targets that are clear and meaningful.
As a future teacher, this lesson helped me see the importance of planning. Creating learning targets will guide the flow of the lesson and help in choosing the right activities and assessments. It also helps keep the focus on what needs to be achieved. This lesson showed me that when learning targets are clear, the learning process becomes more effective and goals are easier to reach.

Chapter 3 focused on Performance Assessment, which taught me how to assess students through tasks that require them to demonstrate what they’ve learned in real-world situations. I learned that this type of assessment gives a clearer picture of students' abilities because they get to show their skills, not just answer questions on a test. This approach makes learning more interactive and engaging. It also helped me see how assessments can be used to improve learning, not just to grade.
In this lesson, I was one of the team teachers, which allowed me to experience working together with others in guiding students. This experience helped me gain more confidence in standing in front of the class. Being part of a teaching team showed me how collaboration can make teaching more effective and how to manage classroom dynamics. It also gave me a chance to build my confidence in leading and interacting with students while giving performance assessments.
Lesson 5 helped me understand the importance of assessing the affective domain in learning. I realized that it’s not enough to focus only on knowledge and skills—we also need to consider students’ attitudes, values, and emotions. Learning becomes more meaningful when we also pay attention to how students feel, behave, and relate to others in the classroom. The taxonomy of the affective domain gave us a clear guide on how to recognize and support students' emotional growth, from simply receiving information to showing commitment and internalizing values.
Activity 2, which is the question “Kumusta Ka?” made me realize that it is important to check in on how students are doing, not just academically, but emotionally. This simple question opened up space for connection, reflection, and care in the learning environment. As a future teacher, this lesson showed me that understanding how students feel is just as important as knowing what they know. It reminded me to always create a safe and supportive space where students can grow both emotionally and intellectually.
Lesson 6 taught me the value of portfolio assessment in tracking and showing student progress over time. I learned that portfolios are more than just collections of work; they tell a story of learning. They help students reflect on what they have learned, recognize their growth, and take ownership of their achievements. This kind of assessment gives a more complete picture of student learning, not just based on tests but also on effort, improvement, and creativity.
Creating a course portfolio plan helped me understand how to organize learning goals, select meaningful tasks, and guide students in choosing what to include in their portfolios. It also taught me how to give feedback that supports learning. As a future teacher, I now see how useful portfolio assessment can be, not only for grading but also for encouraging students to be more reflective and responsible in their learning journey.
Lesson 7 helped me understand what rubrics are and why they are important in teaching and learning. I learned that rubrics are tools that clearly show how students’ work will be graded or evaluated. They describe the criteria for success and the levels of performance, which helps make assessment more objective and fair. Rubrics also help students understand what is expected of them and how they can do better. This lesson made me realize that using rubrics is not just for grading—it is also for guiding students as they learn.
In this lesson, we also learned how to create our own rubrics by identifying the learning objectives, setting clear criteria, and writing descriptions for different levels of achievement. This process helped me think more carefully about what I really want my students to learn and how I will measure their progress. It also taught me that a well-made rubric can help reduce confusion, support student learning, and make feedback more meaningful. As a future teacher, I know that rubrics will be an important part of my teaching tools. They will help me stay consistent and fair, and at the same time, help students become more aware of their strengths and areas to improve.
Lesson 8 deepened my understanding of how to analyze assessment data using alternative methods such as rubrics, checklists, and portfolios. I realized that assessment is not just about giving grades but about gathering meaningful information that can help improve teaching and learning. These tools give us a clearer picture of how students are progressing—not just in terms of scores, but in skills, attitudes, and growth. Rubrics help define the quality of student work, checklists track completion and behavior, and portfolios show learning over time. Together, these tools provide a more complete and fair way of evaluating students.
One of the most helpful parts of the lesson was Kendall’s activity, which allowed us to apply what we learned in a practical setting. Through this activity, I learned how to observe and record student performance using a checklist and analyze the results to make informed decisions. It taught me the importance of being objective, organized, and reflective when assessing. Being involved in this kind of task made me more confident in handling real assessment situations. As a future teacher, I now understand how essential it is to use different assessment tools to support diverse learners and make learning more effective. This lesson reminded me that good assessment should always lead to better teaching and deeper learning.
Lesson 9 focused on the importance of giving proper feedback to students. I learned that feedback should be clear, honest, and constructive. It should not only point out what went wrong but also guide students on how to improve. Giving feedback is not just about correcting mistakes—it is about helping learners grow. The lesson reminded me that the way we give feedback can affect a student's motivation, confidence, and willingness to learn. That is why it is important to use kind words, focus on the behavior or output and not the person, and always suggest ways to improve.
In our role playing activity, I experienced how to handle situations where students are facing problems. It taught me how to stay calm, respectful, and understanding, especially when students are struggling. Practicing this helped me build confidence in how I would give feedback in real classroom settings. It also showed me that feedback is a two way process where we listen as much as we speak. This lesson made me realize that effective feedback builds trust and encourages students to keep trying, even when learning is hard.
Throughout this course, I have learned many valuable lessons that have helped me grow not just as a student but also as a future teacher. I gained a better understanding of how to create meaningful lessons, manage a classroom, and meet the different needs of learners. I also realized that teaching is not only about giving information; it is about making students feel seen, heard, and supported. The activities we did, such as group work, projects, and reflections, helped me think more deeply about the role of a teacher. I saw how much planning, patience, and heart are needed to do this job well, and I became more inspired to continue on this path.
I will carry everything I have learned in this course into my future classroom. I want to create a space where students feel safe, respected, and excited to learn. I plan to use the teaching strategies we discussed, such as giving clear instructions, including engaging activities, and checking in with students regularly. I also want to use technology wisely, such as videos, presentations, and educational apps, to help students understand lessons better. I learned that even small actions, such as listening to a student or offering words of encouragement, can make a big difference. I want to be the kind of teacher who values and notices those small but powerful moments.
Ten years from now, I see myself as a confident and experienced teacher who still has a strong passion for learning. I hope to have my classroom filled with creativity, kindness, and meaningful learning. I want to be known as someone students trust, someone who makes learning enjoyable, and someone who helps them grow not only in academics but also in confidence and character. I also hope to take on leadership roles in my school, such as mentoring new teachers or starting programs that support both teachers and students. If possible, I would like to continue my studies to become an even better educator.
This course reminded me why I chose to become a teacher in the first place. It is not just a profession; it is an opportunity to change lives. I have learned that being a teacher means being a guide, a listener, a role model, and sometimes even a friend to students who need support. Teaching may be challenging at times, but I believe the rewards are always worth it. In the future, I hope to look back with pride, knowing that I helped my students believe in themselves and reach their goals. That is the kind of teacher I hope to become.
