Portage Central is part of District III which serves southwest MI. The District III competition is held at Western Michigan University and usually happens sometime in January. The cost to compete is typically around $50. 2024-2025 season dates are still TBD. If you win a top position at Districts, you'll qualify for States! For more info about districts, go here.
DECA States is a fun 3-day event (Thu, Fri, Sat) held at the Huntington Place in Detroit Michigan on the second or third weekend in March, where all the winners from districts and everyone in a written event competes. The cost to compete is typically between $300-$500, which covers reigstration and hotels. Here is the typical schedule:
Thursday: Arrive in Detroit around 11am, attend orientation, get a timeslot for competing. If you are a written event you will compete on this first day.
Friday: For people who competed on Thursday, this is a free day to do whatever you want: explore downtown Detroit, hangout, etc. For roleplay events, you will compete on this day.
Saturday: Award Ceremony, bus ride back to PC
The top few finishers from each event are given a glass trophy and qualify for Internationals! It's a super fun experience and everyone always has a great time.

DECA Internationals (ICDC) changes locations every few years, rotating between Orlando, Atlanta, and Anaheim. The cost to compete is typically between $1500-$2000. For the 2024-2025 season, we'll be in Orlando, which is a very fun location. It's a 6 day trip (including travel) and it usually takes place sometime in late April. If you make it to the finals round, you'll compete 1 more time for a chance to win a shot at the podium and a $1000 cash prize split between you and your group (if you have one). A: Depends on how big the event is, but it's usually the top 4 or 5 teams.
