Welcome to my site about portable air conditioners that don't require a vent hose. I'm Dr Johnathan Cook and this subject is of great interest to me, hence my research into it and my findings that I publish online.
This site has been produced to highlight the misconception that it is possible to purchase a portable air conditioner that has no need of an exhaust vent hose to expel the hot air it produces to the outside of the building being cooled.
Of course this is not the case as all AC that employs a refrigerant process to produce chilled air also produces hot air that must be vented to the outside.
As explained in the main page, portable evaporative coolers are similar in appearance to portable AC's and they do not require a vent hose because they do not produce any hot air. It is often these units that are promoted as being ventless air conditioners when in fact they are not air conditioners at all!
It is, as always, the job of the customer to make sure they are buying the right product for their needs and to question a vendor that claims to be selling them an unvented AC.
