Por los Caminos Cittaslow is a local nature tourism operator based in Pijao, in the heart of Colombia's Coffee Cultural Landscape.

We offer guided walks and hiking experiences to some of the region's most special natural landscapes, such as the wax palm forest and the Páramo de Chili.

Our tours combine trips in Willys jeeps, walks through Andean forests and high mountain ecosystems, and the opportunity to observe birds, native flora and the biodiversity of the area.

Nature experiences from Pijao

From Pijao, we organise tours to mountains, Andean forests and natural landscapes that form part of the environmental wealth of Quindío.

During our hikes, you can discover the biodiversity of the area, observe birds in the Andean forest, learn about the native flora and walk through rural and mountain landscapes.

Tour Palma de Cera

Walk through the wax palm forest

This tour begins in Pijao with an approximately one-hour ride in a Willys jeep through rural mountain landscapes.

Then we begin a walk of approximately 7 kilometres through the wax palm forest, home to Colombia's national tree and one of the country's most representative landscapes.

During the tour, you can observe Andean forest birds, enjoy the mountain scenery, and learn about the biodiversity that characterises this region of Quindío.

It is an ideal experience for those who enjoy nature, photography, and hiking.

Tour Páramo de Chili

Hiking experience in the páramo

The Chili Páramo is a high mountain ecosystem located in the mountains surrounding Pijao. It is an area of great environmental value where water sources originate and species adapted to unique conditions grow.

The tour begins with a 2.5-hour ride in a Willys jeep to km 27.

From there, we hike approximately 4.5 kilometres through high Andean forest and páramo landscapes, where it is possible to observe frailejones, orchids, lichens, mosses, and different species of native flora.

During the tour, it is also possible to observe birds and learn more about the ecosystem thanks to the environmental interpretation that accompanies the experience.

Nature and biodiversity of Pijao
