History
A fire sparked by lightning destroyed over 200 thousand acres of this forest in 1980.
The fire was called the Woody Fire. Reported as the worst fire in Saskatchewan's history by some newspapers, the story received national attention on CBC and CTV. Two Hercules aircraft with over 200 members of the Canadian army and some military helicopters were brought in to assist provincial firefighting efforts. Eventually it was rain that put out the massive blaze.
Woody Lake is joined to Townsend lake by a short stream. The Woody River is shown here which flows out of Woody Lake and goes into Manitoba.
Woody Lake has a boat dock and fish cleaning table.
Woody Lake has pike pickerel and perch.
