Poplar, Siouxland
Poplar, Siouxland
Siouxland poplar (Populus x. 'Siouxland') is a fast-growing deciduous tree that is known for its tall, narrow form and its adaptability to a wide range of growing conditions. It is a hybrid between the Eastern cottonwood and the Black poplar, and it was developed for its hardiness and its ability to withstand harsh weather conditions.
Siouxland poplar can grow up to 40 to 50 feet (12 to 15 meters) tall with a spread of 15 to 20 feet (4.6 to 6 meters). Its narrow, upright form makes it an excellent choice for screening or as a vertical accent in the landscape. It has a single straight trunk and a pyramidal shape, with small branches that grow up from the trunk.
