Resilience, Teamwork, and Persistence

By: Maddy Sullivan

These are the words that people are using to talk about our PC Varsity Basketball team. One of their own players believes that they are playing stronger as a team than they did last year. She continued saying, “We’re definitely holding our own against the opposing teams.” As of now, they have a winning record of 8 wins and 7 losses, including the preseason. In an interview with one of their captains, Jocelyn Guerrero, it is obvious just how much they have improved. Jocelyn says, “I think our team improved defensively, and we have better communication on the court, as well.” When I asked her how they’re doing against opposing teams, she responded, “I think the gap between the divisions has aided us in becoming faster, utilizing better technique and opening opportunities to score.” Lastly, I inquired about what she thinks her part is in getting the team to where they are and beyond. She said, “I feel that my job is to encourage my teammates and support them in any situation on and off the court.” As we head into the end of the season, there is no sign of any slowing down. Jocelyn and her fellow captains are leading the team at a persistent pace towards future success. Go Pacers!
